I suppose in my near-perfect world, these guys would run the venue. http://www.yardhouse.com/

" I agree, the food will play an important part to the atmosphere. lets hope the foods department gets it right. The music and the lush landscape will really make it a perfect place to be for major Holiday occasion. DCA will be the place to be in 2009 and beyond for new years eve. Beer garden, lavish water show and pyros and plenty of music atmosphere

Bean, will this be a general refurb/ mickey replacement or a more extensive villains themed funhouse overlay that Al Lutz mentioned? I hope at the very least the ride is repainted and the queue is reworked to better match TSMM.

This is supposed to involve a rethememed queue area, ala a Fun House, new paint job, removal of the silhouette mouse, the sunburst added to the side with the words Paradise Pier over it. There was a choice between a 3 million makeover(this one) and a 30-40 million makeover(villains). This was chosen so as to free up that extra money for other things. The villains theme could still make it into the second phase later in the decade though.

(None of the over priced high-brow stuff they sometimes come up with.) I'm thinking things like knockwurst and sauerkraut, beer battered fish and chips. No 'pan seared chicken breast with a demi-glaze served with watercress on a French baguette...for $18.95'.

Oh well, better late than never I suppose.

I mean, I'm hoping they'll make an exception for Hong Kong since they need all the rides they can get!

It wouldn't make much sense to do the pier over as Victorian and then have rock bands. But an oompah-style beer garden band could get old real fast. Maybe more like the music they have at the Plaza Gardens? Swing is, of course, post-Victorian, but it works on Main Street somehow. Or do you think they'll really go whole hog on turn of the (20th) century music/Gay 90's, etc?
