I suppose in my near-perfect world, these guys would run the venue.

Not temporary enough for me. When you look at all the concept art of the fancy victorian theming for this new beer garden, and then realize that this ugly monstrosity looms and clatters directly above it - I just don't see how the two are at all compatible.

I still boggle at the notion of re-theming the entire area to make it nicer, and them thinking that they can keep MM smack in the middle of it all.

I hope they come to their senses, and quick.

the only thing that would be a shame to go will really be the mural. The rest of the building is basically a box. The dome will be staying.

The new building will be amazing and have lots of detail. Onces its done no wil will remember what was there.

I agree, the food will play an important part to the atmosphere. lets hope the foods department gets it right.

The music and the lush landscape will really make it a perfect place to be for major Holiday occasion. DCA will be the place to be in 2009 and beyond for new years eve.

Beer garden, lavish water show and pyros and plenty of music atmosphere

I agree, one good thing is that nothing has been started with that attraction. so things could change.

Id like to see a huge 2-3 story structure, similar in looks to that of Midway Mania, that would be perfect,it would give SCreamin a nice indoor queue and it would help block out ugly Anaheim sightlines as well.

Wow, so Screamin' will get a long overdue refurb, I wasn't expecting that. Bean, will this be a general refurb/ mickey replacement or a more extensive villains themed funhouse overlay that Al Lutz mentioned? I hope at the very least the ride is repainted and the queue is reworked to better match TSMM.

There was a choice between a 3 million makeover(this one) and a 30-40 million makeover(villains). This was chosen so as to free up that extra money for other things. The villains theme could still make it into the second phase later in the decade though.

In reference to the beer garden, I love this idea and it should work well, especially if they do get the food right as others have said. Good quality basic offerings that go well with the setting. (None of the over priced high-brow stuff they sometimes come up with.) I'm thinking things like knockwurst and sauerkraut, beer battered fish and chips. No 'pan seared chicken breast with a demi-glaze served with watercress on a French baguette...for $18.95'.

Oh well, better late than never I suppose.

I mean, I'm hoping they'll make an exception for Hong Kong since they need all the rides they can get!

Any word on what type of music they're planning? It wouldn't make much sense to do the pier over as Victorian and then have rock bands. But an oompah-style beer garden band could get old real fast.

Maybe more like the music they have at the Plaza Gardens? Swing is, of course, post-Victorian, but it works on Main Street somehow.

Or do you think they'll really go whole hog on turn of the (20th) century music/Gay 90's, etc?
