I really love Art Deco because of its attachment to the golden era of Hollywood, but I don't think I've ever seen a Art Deco pier. I could be wrong, but I've never seen one. I have seen many beautiful Victorian ones though. I think the pier will be fine. I just hope they change Ariel's Grotto and the stores to match the rest of the old feeling and hopefully they'll cover King Triton's Carousel. We'll see, it's just great that they're finally making everything really elaborately themed.

A solid theme is sort of a fantasy, and that's what Disney should be good at.

" no as a matter of fact that is the timeline that i have heard for the opening of the Holiday version of the show. Mermaid should have no effect on guest traffic flow for the show. The only problem would probably be the wetsern edge of construction near the Beer garden but the viewing area is in the north side of the bay. Some of the construction times that Al gave seem off and not what i have been told. I know that they have been changing constantly but to actually push back WOC for more than a year seems strange.

I ahve also not heard of any prep work being done for Cars Land in 2008 like he mentions. Cars Land is not due to open till 2012. That is four to five years. Last I heard Car Land prep work would start late 2009 with full construction during 2010 and 2011.

You know ... I understand the need to not have too many projects going on ... when DCA needs to stay open .. and trickle in whatever money it can make ......... but why not prep work for Carsland (or whatever they call the land)... when it's well behind any pedestrian part of the park? In my humble opinion ... they REALLY need to have "full steam ahead!" on a makeover on this park. 2011 on the opening of anything sigificant is a long, long, long way off! And then again .. it's only one significant new attraction. ONE! As jmuboy would say ... in the meantime .......... See ya at Disneyland! ;-)

I guess they are hoping that there will be an overall increase in the numbers of people in the park, but how overcrowded are the current San Francisco bathrooms that they need to make them that much bigger. It seems like they could have half of the other side of the row be bathrooms, and then have a split-level preview center, using the space next to and above the bathrooms. I just don't see that many people needing to go while in that area. (But it does seem like a far walk from the Burger Invasion area to the nearest ones, IMO).

They could even set up targets in the water for the men and give prizes!

I'm thrilled to hear the ride is growing into a shear, bonafide true "E" ticket on the scope and scale of the Haunted Mansion. It appears it will be a nearly a full minute longer than HM. And I almost passed out to this ....... >>Gone are the days when a ride budget would be cut to beef up the gift shop at the exit, or an impressive effect would be scrapped in order to keep the surrounding restaurants and stores in the plan. That warped way of thinking had played out repeatedly during the Pressler and Harriss regimes, and DCA as a whole was infamous for overspending on stores and overbuilding restaurants while the rides set a new low for Disney. That Pressler-era thinking got DCA into the mess it's in now, and John Lasseter wants everyone to remember that.<< LOL
