    Sad, really.

Well .... almost 30 years .. this would be there way of getting back an icon never meant to pass into Yesterland.

Anyone who wants to elaborate on the story, be my guest.

Instead of another Old London set .. as you board into the queue for Peter Pan .. but this time around .... the organic, tropical setting of the Never-Neverland island. And the current pond that made up the queue for Motor Boats .. which currently serves as a tranquil pond on both sides ... would be a recreation of the tropical setting .. with Skull Rock itself .. the entrance into Peter Pan's Flight .. with Tinker Bell's .... immediately next door.

Of course .. all wishful thinking.

But since this area of Disneyland has maintained a very forested look since 1959 .. and it would be nice to continue a watery theme with the entrance having ponds and stream of waters .. like it is now ....... it would all "fit" very nicely.

It's still Fantasyland .... but lends a hand in transitioning into the area of Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage .. with it's "beachy" and very "tropical" type settings.

It wouldn't the way things are arranged now. It would mean that certain areas would need to be altered or removed altogether. Maybe this area could go where the Fantasyland theater is now, I don't know. What I do know is there seems to be a knee jerk reaction to the way that DL Park is being developed now. It all seems very disjointed. I'd like to see them come up with a long range development plan for the park like they've done for DCA.

So .. here I am .. getting a little too ambitious with a LARGER Peter Pan's Flight AND the Tinkerbell ride they want to do. With a Skull Rock/Captain Hook's Galley entrance/queue ...........

    it will never happen!

But it seems it's TOO PERFECT doesn't it?!

    oh well..........

They'll hang Cleopatra's head behind one of the doorways in tribute to that dated old attraction that used to be there. She won't wink anymore of course.

Oh quit being so judgmental. You haven't even SEEN it yet.

I'm sure that rarely happens, as nobody wants to sit in the middle, and you're not going to get people from different groups into the same boat like you could with Snow White or Pinocchio, but it's a start.

As for a mini-Peter Pan land, I think it might work, but I do have to question the staying power of the characters before I would feel comfortable with them devoting that much space to them. We know that Peter and the gang will work, but Tink has changed a lot since her character in the original film, and I have no idea if her new friends will still be 'relevant' 10 years from now.

I think that the mini-land would work pretty nicely, as there are already other mini lands within Fantasyland. Alice in Wonderland and the teacups make up a nice little corner, and Dumbo and Casey Jr compliment each other quite nicely. The trick is to incorporate that area into the rest of Fantasyland, without making anything next to it feel out of place (since it's at the intersection of Storybookland, the Alice mini-land, the Matterhorn, it's a small world, the Fantasyland Theater, and the back butts up against Autopia). If they keep it heavy on landscaping, and hide the building well enough, I think it might work nicely.

If they do build two darkrides there, I think it would make sense to dig down to the level that the sub building is and have one of them (probably the Tinkerbelle one) underground, with the other one on top of it. They could even highlight the elevation changes with both attractions, and have them both be on both floors, weaving through one another (either sharing scenery at times, or using completely seperate sets). This would allow enough space for both to be a decent length, and hopefully have large enough cars to deal with capacity issues.

This would also free up the space that's been occupied by Peter Pan since the park's opening for another new attraction. That part of Fantasyland already has an English feel (connecting through the current PP location, Mr Toad, Alice and teacups, and potentially to the new PP location), so I don't know what they would want to put in that could fit with that theme, but Mary Poppins immediately comes to mind.

I think the real question that needs to be answered is if there is enough demand, even on the busiest days of the year for DL to support 9 fairly simple dark rides (Alice, Mr Toad, Snow White, Pinocchio, Pooh, Roger Rabbit, new Peter Pan, new Tinkerbell, and replacement for old Peter Pan). That's a lot of any type of rides, and with the exception of Peter Pan (and Mr Toad and Roger Rabbit on really busy days), there's never a huge wait for any of these attractions. Does it really make sense to add a huge investment like this that pretty much represents a style of attraction that DL already has more than enough of?

Currently the area we are talking about would INCREASE park capacity. Because more people are dispersed in these areas .. where's now ... is closed off to "through traffic". Unless we want to consider the smoking section under the canopy to Fantasia Gardens as good means to space usage!

If it was a consideration ... I wonder what they could fit into the current Peter Pan location. It's so small .. I can't figure out what they could possibly fit in there.

    PINS!

Jeez, do I have to think of everything around here? You should hire me, Disney.

Quite frankly, I think I'd prefer Tink to those three attractions.

(My young son and I both think the DCA Monsters ride is lame. Went on it once - never again.) But to fly with the fairies? YES!

The Tinker Bell movie is good. VERY good. SHOCKINGLY good. Better than the theatrical features Disney has been assaulting us with for the last several years. Better than all but one of Dreamworks Animation's entire catalog.

Yes it's Product, but it's Product with an intelligent script, great characters, gorgeous artwork, and fabulous music. This is not another Return to Neverland. They took this one very seriously.

IF they can keep that quality level up with future entries in the series (and I'm skeptical, but then I was expecting the first movie to honk too), then a Fairies dark ride might just be a good idea. The first movie certainly has tons of dark ride potential.

Of course, little boys would have to be forced to ride it at gunpoint ...
