People spend crazy amounts of money on all sorts of things. Clothes and shoes come to mind. I like nice clothes but never pay full price. I am wearing $2,000 shoes, but they cost me about $200 (which I still think is pricey!) I used to spend thousands on Disney artwork and the like. Between HKDL and DL/DCA in the past month, I spent about $500 total on merchandise (and much of that was gifts for others). With the economy in the toilet (and please don't anyone tell me we aren't teetering on a financial meltdown that will top the Great Depression), I am watching every penny I have. But if things improve and IF Disney offers compelling merchandise, I am sure I'll spend more. I still very much doubt I'll ever buy a $37,000 gift, though. Oh, and my bet would be those items wind up in the homes of Arab royals, who often visit WDW.
