Not so much the mileage, but I like how it fills out the weekend, it's much more of an event. You'll have a blast! Got in a practice Dumbo weekend this weekend, of the same distances and in the rain, and I'm good to go in a few weeks! Can't wait!

@ferret-are you running the Dumbo races? I agree about the DL 10k. I'm hoping they figured that out, but I'll give them a pass since it was the first year and they learned from it.

The temperature of the water was only an issue for DL1/2 last year, and I suspect that was because it had been sitting in a truck in the sun the day before; hopefully they'll learn from their mistake. The other 10Ks have had about the same number of water stations, but with cooler temperatures it seemed perfectly fine; I remember seeing tons of people stopping at water fountains last year to get a drink along the way. Whose bright idea was it to have a race weekend on one of the hottest holidays of the year (this year the races are in friggin' August!)?

At the very least, I'll be glad I'm not doing the 5K and 10K back to back on water only! I'm really glad that I brought a gel with me to take in between the 2 races last year, since I would have been in big trouble without it

Yeah, the temps can be all over the place Labor Day Weekend, but in August you gotta expect HEAT in LA/OC. Hopefully, it's not the way it's been the past 2 weeks. It's been 90s and 80% or so humidity, even rain the past day or two. This may be normal for the rest of the country, but not here and certainly not on a race weekend. grrrr.

That does sound rough for a race, but I do always enjoy overhearing the locals complain about the weather when I'm there. Yah, it's warm, but it's typically cooler than most of the country and way less humid. Still, most people don't run long distances (let alone race them) when it's that warm out

But you can never really expect the weather to cooperate too much for a race. The hottest marathon I've run was in early January in WDW in 2013 (3 years after it snowed the same weekend), so even when the weather should be ideal you just never know what you'll get

I suppose I should check out the course map. Any changes?

As far as I can tell, it's the same as last year. The area between the Santa Ana River and Angels Stadium may have changed again due to construction in the area, but it's a minor change. From what I saw, it will be the same path through the parks

I hope you're wrong too! The lase several WDW races I've done have had warning signs up at the expo saying to be careful in the warm temperatures (especially since most runners did their training somewhere rather cold), but I've never seen any on-course warnings. And as hot as it's been the years that I've run DL1/2, it's scary to think that I wasn't even there for "the hot year" :O

It's a little cooler today, maybe it will break. It's mid-80s, and less humid then the past few days. I think it will be ok by the end of the month!

Haha, at the last 2 WDW Marathons I've done, I've taken 2 cups of PowerAde and 2-3 cups of water at each station because I was sweating so much. It wasn't anywhere near as hot as that DL race (I think it was in the low 80's by the end) but with the humidity and longer distance it was tough. I'm glad that I had some experience training in similar weather and had run several marathons before, but I can't imagine what that type of experience would be like for a first-timer!

I would log in to your active account before it opens, so when you hit the link you are already logged in. Aside from that, just start trying the link a few minutes prior to the registration time and be patient. As long as you are in the cyber queue, you should get through at that point.
