My kids, 7 &9, were troopers and never complained. We finished in about 55 minutes just as the rain stopped. I did the 10k and stopped a lot for photos. I don't know the names of the fairies, but they were all over the course and I stopped at the "blue" one, as she is my daughter's favorite. I was starving at the finish and shocked that there weren't any food boxes, as we did get them on the 5k. The banana and powerade were not enough. I heard later that the applesauce was expired and weren't allowed to give them to us (but we did get expired applesauce for the 5k). I was really hurting by the morning of the half. I have been fighting my Achilles Tendinosis for about a year, and it flared up in mid-March again. Between the races and the ~8-10 miles a day in the parks, it started to hurt before I even hit the overpass on Ball. So I stopped a lot for photos, including the line for Tinkerbell. I LOVE THAT THEY HAVE THE HORSES OUT!!!! It really gave me a boost to pet them - so sweet. And the Red Hat ladies - PHENOMENAL! I ended up having a better net time compared to Princess, which didn't make any sense since I hardly walked at Princess. I liked that runDisney came up with a plan to give us food in the bags minus the applesauce. I enjoyed the races and spent way too much at the expo. Speaking of that, we went Thursday about 1:30 and luckily we did, as I heard the race specific merchandise went quickly. Too bad runDisney can't come up with a better way to keep out the eBay crowd that buy it all up.

Originally Posted By sunNrainfall I had a great time over the weekend. I spent too much money at the expo, too. darn! I did the Pixie Dust Challenge. Took it easy saturday and ran a little harder sunday. Felt great. First 500 in both races, can't complain. Didn't even feel like I had run last night or this morning. Maybe I should have run harder The weather saturday and sunday were perfect for running. The red hat ladies seem to multiply exponentially each year. I love it. It was a tunnel of noise/cheering running out of DTD. It was awesome! I was a little hungry after the 10k, but I usually bring my own snacks, because I never know what will be provided and usually don't eat most of what's in the box anyway, and don't want to rely on the race. I did hear about the the applesauce though. At least they separated the boxes into bags for Sunday. Loved all the costumes. There seem to be more men each year. Next races is Dumbo! Can't wait.

In WDW they had applesauce packets for us, but they weren't in the boxes themselves, we just picked them up as we went down the line. I'm surprised to hear that they were inside the boxes this time, and that the supplier didn't notice the expiration date. Yet another example of runDisney (particularly the DLR branch) screwing up something that seems pretty obvious in hindsight

Enjoyed listening to a couple of speakers at the expo, including the original Tinker Bell. Watched some celebs arrive on the blue carpet for the movie premier. After the 10K had major heel pain and was worried about the 1/2 the next day. I iced, rolled, took Tylenol and wore my compression heel sock and was good to go on Sun. I'm glad I did the challenge but it was too stressful and too difficult to wake up early again on Sun. I'll just be sticking to the 1/2. Already looking forward to next year...Perfect Pixie. Hope rd does something for the legacy pixies.

It sounds silly, but it's harder than running the actual miles.

Sherman and Tony B walked, and we finally saw George Clooney. By luck I was in a really popular spot for everyone to stop and take photos. Race mornings I'm usually not tired and jump out of bed. But even getting a lot of sleep the night before I just wanted to hit the snooze button. Still a really fun weekend !!

I was exhausted. <<I'm glad I did the challenge but it was too stressful and too difficult to wake up early again on Sun. I'll just be sticking to the 1/2>> I would do a Challenge again, but not with doing the Parks as well. I did Glass Slipper and Pixie Dust (plus the Neverland 5K) along with doing the Parks on both trips and that was WAY too much. My phone logged between 8-10 miles each day, and that didn't include the 22.4 miles ran. It's hard to enjoy both the runs and the parks while also getting up at 3:15 a.m. and I was toast by Saturday night. I'm done with runDisney for at least a couple of years only because of cost. I would love to be Pixie Perfect if I was local. I think I'll set my sights on Goofy or Dopey in 2018 or 2019 - and this time without going to the Parks until after the race weekend.

Especially with Avengers and Star Wars only on year 1!

It does take a lot out of you to stay on top of everything all the time, but it just makes it that much more fun to kick back and celebrate after the conclusion of the marathon Doing the early wake-ups that many days in a row is tough, even for me coming from the east coast. The other people in my group are all coming from Pacific time and they're completely dead the first few days. Luckily it's not hard to fall asleep early after those sorts of days, but it's still tough to convince yourself to get in bed before 9pm, especially when there are so many fun things you could be doing elsewhere

The obvious choices would either be Snow White or villains, but there are some more interesting possibilities too, like household goods (footstool from BATB, wardrobe from Narnia, nuclear fridge from Indy 4, bathtub from Tomorrowland, etc). For the sheer sake of silliness, I hope it's something like the latter! : )

I was so tired from time change, waking up early that I was nauseous and everything seemed hazy to me, I thought I was going to pass out. I napped and went to sleep early, and luckily felt much better Saturday and Sunday. Ferret>how's your achilles? that was thing you injured right? Do you feel recovered? That's awesome you're getting back on track Injuries are such a bummer! I'm taking two weeks off running, this is my first full week off since last June when I started training for Dopey through Tink last weekend. Got get all the little achey bits recovered and start up for Labor Day. Interesting about the 10k theme. hmmmmmmmm. Can't wait to see the 10 yr medal! have you heard anything?
Originally Posted By FerretAfros >>Ferret>how's your achilles? that was thing you injured right? Do you feel recovered?<< It feels fine now! I ended up taking close to 2 months off of running completely, and about another month and a half of only one or two easy runs a week. I hadn't taken a true break from running since before my first Half in 2011, so I supposed I was long overdue for one. It's been a little interesting getting started again, but nothing to be concerned about I hope your break goes well! Summer is always a tough time to run, so it should be nice to have a little extra time to prepare everything >>Can't wait to see the 10 yr medal! have you heard anything?<< I haven't heard anything, but I'm excited to see what they come up with! If runDisney's recent trends are to be kept up, I would assume that this year's medal will have some sort of spinner and will probably also have color in it. All of DL1/2's previous medals have incorporated the castle, so I would expect that to figure in somewhere. I wouldn't expect something 60th-related in the design, but I also wouldn't be shocked if they did it From the training plan logo, it looks like this year's Dumbo medal will be light blue and purple, instead of the blue and red combinations of the last 2 years. It looks like they're going to work their way through the various combinations that are on the Dumbo ride vehicles

I'm rethinking now since we could just celebrate my birthday a week later and have an extra day since it's a holiday weekend. Hmm.

I'm in my second battle with Achilles tendonosis, that I thought I beat last fall, but it came back a couple of weeks after Princess. Been in PT since early April. Did all three races at Tink with run/walk plus plenty of stops for photos and made it in almost the same time I ran Princess. That run/walk method works wells for me too. It got me through my first marathon.

She said it is transferable so I hope to sell it at a reduced price to help pay for my race entry. Has anyone sold one before? Any tips?
