Antibiotics are generally effective in people with healthy immune systems, but are very susceptible to developing resistance in peopel with advanced immune system disorders. Developing new antibiotics helps the problem somewhat, but tackling the immune system diseases is a more effective solution. Our treatment of people with immune diseases so that they don't become sources of disease mutations and resistance is also important. Making HIV drugs available to the poor is very important in this particular area, and everyone concerned with the public health of society as a whole should advocate for greater access to these drugs since they can prevent the spread of other diseases from this class of people.
