Today I am happy because I have done the grocery shopping been to Costco and now I'm home and it is only 12.45pm (our time) so it did'nt take away the whole day. She not only grew up, but became an accomplished actress and married my brother at the age of 20. While life hasn't been easy, last year we almost lost her. We watched as this vibrant woman worsened, and had to start carrying portable oxygen. My brother bought her a segway so she could keep her mobility, but even still, her lungs deteriorated. Her request for a double lung transplant was denied by 2 hospitals. In early December, they flew to Pittsburgh for a week of tests for a possible transplant there. Within 4 days, she couldn't breathe on her own and was placed on a ventilator. Then and there the doctors made the decision to place her on the transplant list. In an answer to hundreds of prayers, a set of lungs were found two days after she was placed on the ventilator. She made it through the surgery, but we almost lost her again just before New Years. However, she is the most determined person I know and she fought her way from the brink of death to be released from the hospital three weeks later. She and my brother have since returned to Idaho and have begun the process of picking their lives back up from where they left them in December. It's absolutely amazing to me to see what a change their is in her color, demeanor, and spirituality. And what I am most happy for: She celebrates her 29th birthday this week.
