But we have bought a guidebook on Japan to start prioritising (from what I have read so far, we will need a year ;-)

But it is getting real. My folks are financially on the brink, so that is stopping us right now. But I am feeling once I secure another contract, a Japanese trip could happen sooner than later for the Baloos.

Question is - Christmas, Easter or Summer (summer is better for time, but worried about weather and crowds).

Great advice, thanks! I will certainly look into it!

***from what I have read so far, we will need a year ;-)***

lol. Well, I suppose that could be true for ANY country or big region...there's so much great stuff out there to see and do!

***My folks are financially on the brink, so that is stopping us right now.***

Very sorry to hear that! I hope things improve soon.

But very happy to hear THAT, sounds neat! See ya when you get here!

    EASTER, without a doubt.

If you get lucky and the timing is right, you'll land in the midst of cherry blossom season (the most beautiful season in Japan far and away!), but even if not, the weather is decent, the crowds are light so long as you avoid school holidays (worth your while to research that!), and in any case you'll avoid the crap weather and crushing crowds of either Christmas OR summer (both ultra-nasty times to visit honestly...I never go to the parks or ANY public events at those times!).

That'd be my advice, anyway. FWIW. ;)

    Understandable all around.

I would say that 2 weeks is reasonable, or at the very least 11-12 days (the jetlag alone is a bitch as you are well aware!).

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm sure if you post an inquiry to the Tokyo section MagicalNezumi or others could detail the situation for you easily. :)

TDR, overall, is far superior to DlP resort.

Disneyland Parc easily trumps Tokyo Disneyland and word has it Buffalo Bills is a can't miss dinner show; I suspect that I'd find it damn good(but I wonder if its popularity is due to the fact that western Euros have some off the wall, maybe arbitrary fixation with the US's 'Old West' and that the show would not pack 'em in if presented in the US....in other words overrated if viewed by many USAers, hmmm?)

    But Tokyo has;
superior lodging/hotels including the finest Disney Hotel----Mira Costa
    a much better 'downtown district'(Ikspirari)
WAY, WAY better cast and service
by far the cleanest and well maintained property in the Disney Chain
    a monorail
    cool retro transports(buses)
the most pronounced Disney 'magic'/intangibles of the 5 destinations
the most mind blowingly beautiful theme park anywhere....Disney Sea

specifically because of you, dave and u k fan(I think it was u k fan but I'm not 100% sure).

I theorize that Buffalo Bill's overwhelming popularity is due to:

1)not much competition on property(unlike WDW)
2)it's done well with a strong budget
    3)western Euros have a deep curiosity and fascination with Las Vegas/cowboys & Indians/frontier/high Sierra/great Plains/old west legends.

I also theorize that if played in the US it would not have near the following irrespective of how well the show is executed.

I will now call this theory the ***HASSELHOFF EFFECT*** whereby, inexplainably, a purely US feature attracts far more popularity in another culture than in the US itself.

I am also comparing it to seeing the Luau and Hoop De Doo at WDW, Pirates and Medieval Times in Buena Park, and Arabian Nights in Orlando. This is better than all of those. It is increadible well done.

What is interesting is we used to have an aquatic circus by Murliele Hermene that was alot like Curque du Soliel's O, and that did not do well at all. Again, I really enjoyed that too, but again, it was no BBWWS.
