Although the Fair was only in NYC, the iconography of it was well known enough that it would have been an easily understood sight gag at the time >>Have ANY modern World's Fairs actually made money (ouside of perhaps the 64-65 NY World's Fair)?<< According to this article, the Knoxville fair made a whopping $57! (and others - including Seattle, Nagoya, and Shanghai - also turned profits, as berol noted) http://offbeattenn.com/knoxvil...made-57/

Tomorrowland has a nostalgia and fan base similar to other lands in DL. That being said . . . there is going to be a major Star Wars announcement in 2015, and if what I've heard is correct, then a Star Wars land is coming to Simba parking lot as part of a DCA expansion. Supposedly, Star Tours closes in Tomorrowland at DL the summer that SWland opens (animatronic C3PO pilots to Paris), and from that point on their looking at re-doing *some* sections of Tomorrowland at DL, starting in 2018. This is all rumors, but what i've heard is: 1. Star Tours simulators will be repurposed as the new 'Star Tours'(won't be called Star Tours anymore) will be an E-Ticket in SW which has both simulated flight as well as the ride vehicle which tour scenes with animatronics. The old TL simulators are rumored to undergo conversion Fall 2018 to 2019 to be turned into a new attraction, possibly Marvel based such as Guardians of the Galaxy and given a sort of feel like the film. This will probably involve cosmetic changes to the outside/inside queue of the ride. 2. They'll be a entertainment gap in TL as the Jedi Academy will get a permanent, and themed home in SWland. They might put in a Marvel based show, and make cosmetic changes to the Terrace there. Post 2018, anybody's guess at that point. We'll be looking at Star Wars frenzy folks, SW land will probaby be a huge draw for the park, and the excitment for the films will probably be nearly off the scale. I'm guessing that in 2020-2022, or so, they might seriously start looking at a Marvel based attraction for TL, using some rough blue sky concepts such as turning the old People Mover station into Avenger's Tower, maybe reconfiguring Innoventions . . .

So if they got good terms for additional space in the area, they grabbed it. Again, not necessarily related to a SW Land. And SWL in Simba? Not gonna happen. Makes no sense physically, and certainly not thematically. leemac's rumor of it going into TT and nearby space that is currently backstage makes more sense (as counter-intuitive as it seemed when I first read it) and is backed by someone with a good track record, unlike some I could name.

It's a new rumor every couple of months. They don't like what they view as little kid attractions, bemoaned Pixar in DLR, and want to see stuff like Toontown taken out. >>>Along with a "Tron" like theme for the entire land. Same time .. Because the amount of space theoretically available behind of TT in DL is about 1/2 the size of Carsland . . . doesn't seem big enough to use up the $800 million that Iger wants to use for a longterm 'big bet'. They already use this paltry backstage area for moving people/equipment when servicing E-Tickets on this side of the park like TT, Luigi's and other stuff. Gotta have access to fix things . . ..
