I like these movies too, for example John Carter or Tron Legacy. I didn't like Maleficent.

With regards to the actual movie I was hoping for more and felt it was actually underwhelming. All the same though I can't say it was a waste of money to see and I was entertained, I will also buy it when it goes to DVD.

On a side note it did seem a little bit preachy in parts.

I saw it last night and I enjoyed it overall.

The negatives: I wish it would have been a little weirder. There is a great scene about midway through in a comic book/toy collectible shop. Wish there had been more surprises like that.

And as for Tomorrowland, well, we get a glimpse of the place but we don't get to spend much time there. Other than looking cool and things flying about, I wish some time had been spent perhaps meeting some of the inhabitants and seeing how advanced they are (will be?).

If Tomorrowland is the prize the characters are after, there's not a lot outside of the glitzy stuff to say *why* exactly it is a place to strive toward. Have they solved racism, environmental issues, etc.? We can assume so, I guess, but the movie doesn't show it really. Maybe because it is simply somewhere other than here and now, that's enough.

On the positive side, it is a very upbeat action story. It has a nice message, there were some exciting chases (even if we don't know exactly why they are being chased). George Clooney and the two young actors all do fine work.

It isn't a perfect movie, but I think for a summer science fantasy popcorn movie, it does leave you with a little something to think about and it is trying to be a bit inspirational. Nothing wrong with that, and even though a Mad Max dystopia seems more likely right now than the Disney/Jetson's shiny future of Tomorrowland, it's okay every once in awhile to be reminded that optimism and pessimism are both choices which lead to certain results.

Hey, look at the horrible stuff we wore in the 70's. We can't throw stones at anyone's idea of fashion, even if it does incorporate metallic flaps.

    Okay ... sarcasm off.

I have so much catching up to do on posts ... which I've been avoiding .. but I got to read them now.

    Just real quickly ....

The visuals and basis of the film ... FANTASTIC!

The plot? Confusing. Muddled. It's as though .. the film was 'live' .. as the characters didn't even know what was going on. Everything was shrouded in some much mystery.

There are some things I still don't understand.

But I'll be back to see this film.

OHHH ... where were the Carousel of Progress scenes? Worlds Fair scenes not as epic as I was hoping.

Have to chat later about it.

Boy howdy. My high school chorus wore leisure suits for performances. Leisure suits.

We found a local tailor who made them cheap. So... cheap leisure suits.

And no matter how hideous you're imagining they looked - jack the hideous quotient up a few notches.

Brown, they were. Brown, cheap leisure suits. With white piping.

    I think I've said enough.

    Amen Dabob2.

I was in a wedding in Summer of 1980 for two classmates (they were 19 and 20 when married)

    Tan jackets - brown piping
    Brown pants
Peach shirts (matched the girls dresses)
Brown velvet bow tie - large

    Oy vey!

The good news is they're still married!

From the guy who produced and directed the most recent 'Star Wars' movies - poster children of that very sentiment. :-/
