I have to share with everyone a conversation you and I had in person when we visited DCA earlier this year about announced exits from WE and/or LP. We were talking about a certain other LPer who had announced that they were leaving LP for good, and you told me in a very all-knowing tone "Oh, they'll be back all right." You mentioned that they (those that announce their departure) ALWAYS come back. At the time, I didn't think that this person would come back. I had to sheepishly mention that I had once announced my exit from WE, only to come back. I seem to remember you thought this was rather funny at the time. And of course, you were right: the person in question did indeed come back to LP. For me, the reasons I participate on LP were still true even after I had "had it" on a particular occasion, and they eventually brought me back. Anyway, it's good to see you back here. Myself, I've been very frustrated with Admin fromm time to time, and thought that the moderation has been done in a very uneven manner from time to time. But of course, I realize what a hard job Admin has, and that things won't always be done the way I would have done them. That's all part of being part of any type of community, I suppose. Again, welcome back.

So I check it out and every single comedian on the used the N word several times in their act. If it's wrong, and rightfully so, for me or Michael Richards or anyother white person to use that word, then shouldn't it be unaccepatble for black people to use it? We shouldn't have rotating standards on what's acceptable and what's not.

See ya >>> <<Do you mean done with WE, or done with LP?>> LOL, no I just meant WE at the time, since I really don't write here normally anyway . This is probably the most I responded here in a year . To be honest, I really had no intention in posting in this area about this topic---then I saw the apology . And just to explain it, I guess I was so angry (BESIDES being the first thread I put up in 7 months on LP now--yep, my first thread in 7 months--I think I'm getting a little bored ;D), I was just angry the ENTIRE thread was taken down because honestly, it was 100% civil. The only thing that was offensive was the video itself and yes, I thought about not showing the link to it at the time. But I KNEW if I just came here and went blazing away how much on what I thought of Michael Richards and people HAVEN'T seen it, I knew people would probably just say I was overreacting or maybe it was out of context or something. Well, its safe to say I wasn't . So, that's why I posted it. Also, I KNOW LP is family driven, but WE seems to have more a loose feeling area so I posted it. Also, I was basically spent 20 minutes (my old school loooong posts you guys use to get from me ) where I was responding to someone on that thread, I finished it, hit send and a minute later, GONE!!! So, that's probably the REAL reason I was so bitter . I'm ok now though . BTW SuperDry it was SUPER great spending time with you here in Korea . GLAD you made that flight to Japan. Since I managed to keep you out until 5 in the morning AND got you on the dance floor (this is AFTER he got into so much kids, he actually postponed his flight to keep hanging out with me), I wasn't sure. Anyway, I will send you a PM soon. I already got one from your boyfriend today ;D.

I admit, sometimes I feel uncomfortable here at W.E. because I know about 95% of the time everytime a 'Black' issue come up, I'm like the lone Blacky represenative most of the time ;D. I don't mind, but I just always try to get across although many other Black people might agree with me, its NOT to represent what every Black person think just like a Jewish person feel they were speaking for everyone, a Gay person, Latino, whatever. It's just MY opinion. But yes, I know it LOOKS like a double standard, but it isn't. Just for the record though, I'm Black, grew up in the hood, the whole thing, but I DON'T say it. Yes, all my friends say it around me and in school, people actually called me 'white' because I didn't say it in school just because its so much a part of our slang now. Its almost like something is WRONG with you in the hood if you don't say it, at least when I was a teenager. Anyway, its a HUGE difference the way a Black comedian use it and how Michael Richards use it. The main point is that most use it for jokes....what Richards was doing were NOT jokes. When I FIRST heard about it, I just thought it was a part of his act and even **I** thought it was fine. I was actually talking to my friend back in L.A. and he, also Black but knew nothing about it since I mentioned it to him first, didn't understand why would it make news if a White comedian use the N word. Strange, maybe a little controversial, but the news??? Then we saw the tape ;D. IF it was an act that went wrong, none of us would be here, I certainly wouldn't. But it wasn't his act, just a barrage of yelling and screaming hatred, period. We all know this now. But yeah, I know, I still haven't answered it fully. The N word isn't acceptable to me, but it is comoradarie (did I spell that right?) among us that the word has that brings us together. YES, should be banned, but it's naturally taken and used a different way. It's not use to be insulting. THAT'S what people seem to miss most of all, the context. YES, should be banned, but its something that is highly negative that has been turned around and used as our own. The problem is, besides the obvious it shouldn't be said at all, whenever it comes from a White person, Even if he or she means NOTHING by it, it automatically goes back to the racist/hateful connotation, everytime. That's how ingrained it become. But, let's not kid ourselves, Richard knew EXACTLY what he was saying and doing when he said it. Again, if he was doing a routine and used it, yeah, people would still grumble lol, but he would NOT be feeling the need to apolgize on a talk show for it.

I mean, let's grow up and discuss the word by using the word. Or is it going to be offensive just because it is used in a discussion about the word? To me, the whole "N-word" thing sounds like some euphemism used by parents to scold their little children. "Johnny - you used the N-word. You went pee-pee in your pants. I'm gonna have to smack your po-po!" Lenny Bruce used to shock audiences by using swear words and many slams on ethnic groups. But his objective was to point out that they were just words, just syllables slung together to insult. His message seems to have been forgotten and the childish way we avoid any real discussions about the dreaded word almost makes the whole topic seem silly and insignificant.

But people who write here really like to write. The more you write, the more you do it. It's something in the people who write on boards. Most people do NOT like writing and can't or won't. But if you enjoy it, then this is a really good outlet for it.

No group of people is ever going to raise itself up, raise its dignity and raise its consciousness by calling itself a horrifically nasty obscene word that only "they" can use. You don't hear other groups doing this. You don't hear Jews calling themselves the K word, for example. When black people use this word, they disgrace themselves and everyone else like them.

Do I still watch re-runs of Seinfeld? The show still holds up after all these years. It was just one cast member that spewed this garbage, not anyone else. I have to be consistent on this, I said I was still going to watch Mel Gibson movies. Or I may not like something an Alec Baldwin or George Clooney says politically, but you know what I'll still see what they do. This is no different.

No self-respecting person of any color or group should ever say such a thing about themselves. And, for Stillthepassholder (or whatever his name is) who said I don't talk to people like I do here in real life, well, here's a story for him: I actually once started yelling at a guy who used the N word to describe some black people. Told him that his language was a disservice to himself and that the black people will never raise themselves up or respect themselves as long as they say these sorts of things about themselves. As long as they themselves say such things, then everyone else is going to continue to do it as well. He tried to give me some insane reasoning for why it's ok. I didn't let him get away with it. I left saying "You want to call yourself that? Then everyone else will call you that, too, and they're not going to have some strange convoluted logic that you do to justify it. They'll call you that because they hate you and they mean it."
