Florida seems to fit. Tokyo seems to fit even better. DCA seems thrown in (but, in fairness, the whole PARK feels like that for me).

Otherwise, I agree with Dave's statements pretty much. I do like the 5th dimension stuff though...although I can appreciate the idea that with a single shaft you don't know when the drop is coming (you really kinda do, though).

WorldDisney, you shameless whore of a traitor! How DARE you speak negatively of the most sacred DisneySea!!??

Now compare Pooh at TDL compared to Pooh at DLR and well, that comparison is nothing to being close to close ;).

(and I used to LOVE the seatbelt seats in Orlando, so I appreciate WHY they put them in, but I'm old now! :p)

The car style works great in Tokyo. No pain.

    Also, the preshow is unreal.

The ride itself is, well, pretty much the same on all three.

So I can't really understand why you'd put Tokyo in third place. You've got Florida (older, but with an interesting twist), DCA (newer, and that's pretty much it), and DisneySea (newer, with a TOTALLY different story, a way more maxed out pre-show, the newest state of the art effects, etc...).

DisneySea wins by a nose, imo.

Plus I didn't break my back (BIG plus). :D

So, when will you be arriving for the 25th celebration, WorldDisney?

LOL, I JUST read about it and posted it in the TDR section. I knew nothing about it until litterally a few minutes ago. Wow, I was living in Tokyo for the 20th anniversary and I don't remember anyone making a big deal about it? Yeah, would've liked to have gone if I knew a few months before LPers were showing up. There's always the 30th ;).

No, that would've been fun. It's funny, it just hit me that me, you and SD have been meeting each other for the last 4 years, but I can't recall a single time all three of us been in the same room since, lol, Hollywood Planet on Xmas in 2003. But, we all manage to see each other 1-2 times a year lol.

Star Tours KILLS me. I leave that ride with a light head, wobbly legs, and a stomach that is threatening to do a reversal on me.

ToT does not make me feel the same way.

You won't remember the time you chickened out and didn't go on the ride, but you certainly will remember the time the DID. Regardless of the outcome.

ToT is more mentally intense because first timers don't really know what will happen next.... so it can be nerve-racking. And I would not call ToT's physical ups and downs tame either for the novice.....first timers might well become startled.

It's a crapshoot you might get totally freaked and vow to never get near that thing again or you could find yourself racing around to get on for a second straight ride.

    Good luck.

Also, remember that ToT's strength is not in the ups and downs; it's in the theming and storyline.

    I see.

Well, taking that into account though, real hollywood hotels also don't have mickey shaped roller coasters visible nearby either. ;)

Funny, that's me to a T on Body Wars, Back to the Future, Cyber Space Mountain and (especially) Mission:Space.

Star Tours, though, doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm happy to say that, since I adore the attraction so it would suck if it made me sick!

You are not wrong, nor am I, because this is subjective, but I disagree with your points.

The DCA boiler room is grander because it is bigger and two stories tall, but it is not as spooky as the WDW one. The DCA one is way too brightly lit. And all the theatrical lighting fixtures that cast the lighting all over the place are clearly visible, and wreck the theme. DCA's art direction is just poor, period.

The Magic Mirror effect is boring, and in no way is it a one-for-one substitute for the 5th dimension sequence of the WDW version. The Magic Mirror is stupid. It sucks big time.

The outside "gardens" of DCA's are IN NO WAY comparable to the magnificent placement and landscaping of the WDW original. DCA's TOT is a box, that was plunked down onto a parking lot, with absolutely no regard for placement, setting, or transition from the rest of the poorly designed DCA Hollywood section. In that regard, then, I guess the DCA TOT fits right in. But that ain't anything to be proud of.

I think the worst offense of DCA's TOT is that you end up right where you started, just like any of the crappy off the shelf paradise pier cycle rides. From the boiler room, you cross past the same hallway that you will later be walking through to get to the exit. Look at the bellhop that places you into the seats - he's the same face you'll see two minutes later as he hustles you out of the cab and directs you into the same hallway that you just crossed through when you entered the cab. After first falling in love with the original WDW version - where the cab ends up in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLACE than where you started, with a completely different person opening the doors for you - I HATE that the DCA version cheaps out. Considering that there's never a line for the DCA version, so I never have to wait in the badly designed outdoor queue (which I hate), I think this aspect of the DCA version is what I dislike the most, and it is what, more than anything, makes me less than enthusiastic about coming back to it again and again.

WDW's version takes you away from the park and makes you feel like you have stepped into a completely different time and space. DCA's version feels like a Paradise Pier drop ride with a building shell constructed around it with electrical transformers in back and a parking lot right beside it. And considering that's what it actually is, and that you can go up into the Hyperion Theater and see so for yourself, this doesn't do anything to help with the mystique. DCA's TOT is purely DCA-like in execution. And that's just sad, considering that it's too late to do anything about it.

Because of this, most towers don't have much landscaping, if any, around their base, making the TOT setting quite realistic. However, the unthemed walls that surround the other 270 degrees of that plaza don't really fit the theme so much. Even if it's unrealistic, the WDW gardens really add to the overall experience.

And I'm not particularly fond of repetitive bunny hops/camel humps, etc., on roller coasters, but for some reason the "airtime" on TOT just cracks me up. I think it's the way I come smacking back down into the seat. *LOL*
