TS3 made a billion dollars for the studio, of course they're going to want more. Why are we getting a fifth Pirates? Because the current movie is going to cross the billion dollar mark the next few days. Why is Disney making a new Oz film? Or putting a live action Malifecent on the fast track? Because Alice in Wonderland made them a billion dollars.

I feel like that tale is complete. But who knows -- I am sure that they came up with dozens of story lines before what eventually became Toy Story 3, so perhaps they've already got new things in mind. And when it comes to deciding when the TS tale is truly complete, well, I'm only off by a few billion dollars and an Oscar here and there. ; )

In fact, part of the reason they finally settled their feud with Disney is because WDFA was planning their own threequel, and word was Pixar hated it. (Disney had rights to use the characters.) Cars 2 was not my cup of tea, but I do not believe it was conceived as cynically as some here would say. Cars was personally very appealing to John Lasseter. There is so much in the new film that is based on his sensibilities. If there was a TS4, I would think it would be handled very, very carefully.
