Didn't Groucho Marx once make a remark like that about either a restaurant or a night club: 'Nobody goes there anymore because its alwways crowded' or something like that.

At WDW, the Monorail is a transportation system, not an attraction. At DL, it is essentially neither because it tries to be both.

If the monorail at DL is only being used as transportation by hotel guests, then you can't say that it isn't a transportation system, because that is what it is.

Has the monorail lost its appeal as an attraction? Hard to say... I don't typically go to DL and conduct surveys.

I'll go ahead and be the one to take the ceremonial offense at this one. (You know, because the others are probably "too dense" to know that they were insulted.)

You got caught making an apparently contradictory statement, that some of us thought was funny. Deal with it. Trying to explain it further certainly helps, but calling a group of people dense because you had trouble effectively communicating something in the first place seems a bit short-sighted.

Now, let's get back to what should potentially be the real point to this. You contend that "Almost nobody goes on it just for the ride because they have to wait a long time with all those "transportation" folks in line.". Which lines are you looking at when you are guessing what other people are thinking? Are you looking at the line for hotel guests, or the line for regular folks? If it is indeed the later, then your statement still doesn't really hold water.

I don't see much of a difference between the monorail and the steam trains. People either use them for transportation or fun or a combination of both. People look at the line and decide if it is worth it for what they want to get out of it.

I would put forth that one of the monorail's biggest issues is that of it's capacity. As it is right now, if you're seeing any kind of lines, it doesn't need to be any more popular than it already is.

Fastpass is dying. Watch Universal get rid of theirs altogether, and WDW will be removing most of their remaining FastPass machines over the next year.

It's hard to imagine that Disneyland wouldn't be following in similar fashion.

We can only hope. Although, every latest attraction at WDW has recieved FP (Philharmagic, Mission:Space, Stitch, LMA, Soarin', Everest).

I must say i was very, very happy to see that it wasn't included (as rumored it might be) on the re-done IASW, or Monsters Inc. over at DCA.

    Down with FP!

I disagree the sub area along with Autopia is going to become really congested (assuming it is a good attraction, the previews have been good so far). This is an attraction that will really need a FP. The main question is where do you put it? My guess is over by the matterhorn but then you would block the kodak picture spot. Then again they could take out the smoking section and I wouldn't care. The only problem with that is it is on the otherside of the attraction.

The additional signs to direct people to the machines and queues (especially if the machines are fairly far away) will cause confusion, and more people will stand there, trying to figure out where they need to go. The area is fairly congested right now, without an attraction there. It will be far worse with an attraction, and unimaginable with FP too.

I guess you think you're being cute or smart, but excuse me what about people with disabilities. My father always comes to Dland with his grandchildren and sometimes the monorail is the best route for him to get back to the hotel and it's a wonderful ride for him with his disability.

'twas a joke. By law Disney has to provide access for guests with disabilities; how they accomplish that, I don't know. Still, that doesn't mean the main access wouldn't be by stairs.
