As for the rest of the winery, the renovation looks like it really did wonders for this place. The menu looks fantastic for theme park food, and is all prepared fresh. The Sonoma terrace with the wonderful looking boxed lunches and wine to go with (if you choose to eat your boxed meal before the WoC show) looks great as well. Plus wine tasting continues and new exhibits in the cellar.

This place is looking better than it has in years. I do hope the Seasons of the Vine returns someday though after CarsLand opens.

Special dinners for World of Color had wonderful food. The 3 of us each ordered something different, but we all enjoyed the food itself. Hailbut was great, steak was so tender & scallops in the pasta were cooked perfectly.

However, SERVICE SUCKED!!! We got bread right away, but took forever to get drinks (or refills), dinner, etc. The steak was cold & had to be sent back. Thre were plenty of wait staff (we very seldom saw the same person twice at our table), but everyone was complaining.

The manager just went table to table putting out fires, so to speak. The mother & daughter sitting by us didn't even know you got bread until she saw us get ours...they finally had to ask for it. Plus the mom waited forever for coffee & she was freezing as it was quite cold upstairs. Heaters were turne don about the time we left - 7:30ish

By the time our meal was up - there were only about 10 tables in our section that had people & service was still an issue.

Thanks for this info. I'm not surprised that service was an issue since this is essentially a new restaurant. Hopefully they'll get the bugs ironed out quickly.

Glad to hear the food was good. We plan to get a Trat ressie very soon. We went to Ariel's on Friday-- great food but a wild and woolie time getting through dinner. Biggest issue there was guests who wouldn't leave their tables so they could see the 9pm WoC show. This is being remedied, I understand.

doug i recommend TRATT, i have never had bad service, and i think that you pinpointed the problem--first night of WOC for guests and trying to get them through and done for the show! and i am sure know they have taken care of the issues of "table hogging".

We had to twist the arm of the second floor terrace bar on Friday night to get anything other than nibbles (which were tasty but small). We were all very hungry and didn't want to move. They eventually relented. I do miss the veggie lasagne that they used to have but the pasta was good if unremarkable. Everyone else seemed happy with their options.

he sad thing about the Vineyard Room is how the cast had to be dispersed. Some landed up at Napa but others struggled to find another decent DLR gig. It was a terrible shame as the cast was exceptional and many had given up good gigs to move to the Vineyard Room. When it went to limited hours it must have been a real struggle for the servers.

The idea was that the Vineyard Room would be the high-end restaurant, and the Trattoria would be the lower-priced (but still good) choice. I guess the Trattoria expanded into the Vineyard Room's old space, though I've only eaten on the outdoor terrace that was always part of the Trattoria, so I'm not sure about that.

2001: Vineyard Room was 2nd floor (upscale) restaurant. Also upstairs was a wine bar (to the right). Downstairs was a store and the Wine Country Market, a grab and go operation with premade foods and drinks. All were operated by Mondavi I believe.

    Then Mondavi left.

Disney closed the upstairs wine bar and converted the entire 1st floor to the Trattoria (midscale). The Vineyard Room continued to operate with a separate menu and staff from the Tratt. Eventually Disney closed the Vineyard Room and it was vacant for years.

With the recent refurb of the Tratt, apparently the Tratt is now both downstairs AND upstairs, with the same menu and staff for each as I understand it.

Of course, but it's also the spot that once housed a film about wine making. Therefore, it's a part of the complex.

"It is not confusing at all. (Sometimes I wonder if Hans has ever been to the park he complains/talks so much about...)"

Chill out. Unlike some of you I don't go to Disneyland every weekend. Also, I happen to be a fan of DCA, so I'm baffled at why you characterize my comments as complaints.

I had a very nice dinner at the high end upstairs restaurant (the Vineyard Room?) when the place first opened, and I've been to the outdoor winery wine bar on subsequent visits. When these names get tossed about in discussions it's difficult to understand which spaces are being referred to since there are multiple locations within the complex and the names/locations have changed over the years.

    Thanks for all the explanations.
