Epcot really needs some cohesion at innoventions, and more Streetmosphere around WS.<<<<

I agree that AK needs nightime entertainment. But DHS also need nightime stuff. The time of year when we go all the shows are done by 6pm and there are just not enough rides for everyone after the shows close.

I agree with DHS not having enough that interests me..we usually ride the boat to EPCOT & split the day.

We also often spend more than 1 day at AK. But what I meant was I would like them to add a little so that disney would keep the park open a little later. Also who wouldn't love some sort of cross park transport so you don't have to hoof it across the park all the time. Like maybe river boats.

For DHS it's a park that should be great at night. Just the theming makes it a great place to hang after dark except that most of the shows stop before then. DHS 's nightime offering should be improved so that it has more to offer to the late night crowd. With pleasure island gone this would be a natural place for people hang after dark and it would easily fit with the theming.

As for the Hollywood Studios...I can only shake my head and wonder what has happened to this park. Here is what I wrote on my blog a while back:

    3. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Will Find Itself- Is it a studio? No, not really. There is no longer a backlot, the soundstages have been turned into rides, Post production is long gone and Mickey no longer wears a Michael Eisner Watch in the coming Disney movie previews. Is it a Disney Studio Theme Park? No, not really…just look at its attractions: Star Tours, Indiana Jones, American Idol, The Great Movie Ride with only one short Disney nod, Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror. This park needs a strong hand to give it an identity. Someone please help! A secondary thing I will never see – The Chinese Theater unobstructed. (you can access the whole blog at: http://www.iworkedforthemouse....lifetime)

I worked for Imagineering on the Studio project and it is so sad for me to go there now and see what it has become. My hope was that the name change was the first step in a new direction for the park but since then I have seen no indication that much will change.

From what I understand, Matt has an excellent source(s) within the company. We also have to understand that Disney is extremely secretive these days. People who are close to the heart of the company are even left out of the loop on some projects. I think that they were disturbed that Jim Hill started spreading news about Night Kingdom/Jungle Trek last year when it was only being considered. That isn't the new park that is currently being planned. Matt Hart also didn't believe that it is the Villain park. I'm not sure how far along in development the new park is. The last I heard the plans were drawn up, but it had not been greenlit.

Maybe DAK wouldn't be a 2 day park if it didn't close 5 hours earlier than the rest of the parks.
But I am still trying to figure out how you spend 2 full days at DAK. How long can you watch sleeping tigers?

I'm not sure anyone has disputed that Disney has plans for a 5th park. I merely contend that it's not something they are actively working on, or even considering at this point in time. As I said earlier, Disney has all kinds of plans. We've all heard about them, such as Epcot projects like a Russian Pavilion, or a Mt. Fuji ride for Japan. A Villians Mountain for the MK. Beastly Kingdom for DAK. It's all meaningless until Disney makes an announcement. I truly doubt they're in a mode or position to do so; IMO Disney would open another park at DLR before they'd do another in WDW.

Every park doesn't have to be about rides. And I don't think either DAK or TPFKaTD-MGMS are ride parks or should ever be.

Doesn't mean they shouldn't get more, just that it shouldn't be the focus.

They should get more attractions, experiences, shows etc ... reasons for people to visit and stay longer.

But if people want ride parks I'm not even sure they should visit any Disney park ... certainly not any that isn't a MK. That's just not what they're about.

I think it squandered a lot of its potential. I loved the place its first decade ... but then the haphazard development (no plan existed) ... the loss of a real studio vibe ... the tossing anything in ... and the final straw, the BIG ASS HAT!

(That hat by the way has a very limited future shelf life!) :)

    Yes. They did.

When Rivers of Light and DAK After Dark were killed because Jay wanted to build Night Kingdom AKA Disney's Shangri-la, so went the idea to ever have the park open past 7 or 8 p.m. (with one EMH night per week).

The fact Joe Rohde is working on a DVC in Hawaii (and oh so close to HKDL and the new Mystic Point land) should tell you that DAK will remain as is for the forseeable future.

with all due respect to you and your source, it isn't happening.

while I don't doubt that all sort of things have been proposed Disney has no intention of adding anothet gate in Florida ... they don't have the money, the ability to get the kind of credit needed or the desire ... another park would simply canabalize business from their existing parks and all the internal studies have shown that.

This would be stupid beyond belief and while Disney has shown it has leadership can be dumber than room temperture in the Arctic Circle in winter, they aren't that dumb ... and Bob Iger and Tom Staggs certainly aren't.

Your source has been sold a bill of goods. No matter who he is.

That is why I think Legoland @ The Walt Disney World Resort could happen. A family friendly 5th gate they don't have to build.
