I do think the shows will be bring people into DCA.. to an extent.. but will it keep them there? And really push up attendance? Who knows.. Maybe they'll finally need to install signs like these at DLR: <a href="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-5/1179349/fullmk3.jpg" target="_blank">http://img.villagephotos.com/p...lmk3.jpg</a> <a href="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-5/1179349/fullmk4.jpg" target="_blank">http://img.villagephotos.com/p...lmk4.jpg</a> <a href="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-5/1179349/fullmk2.jpg" target="_blank">http://img.villagephotos.com/p...lmk2.jpg</a>

Ugh. I remember when fireworks were just something you'd catch if you could. Same with these outdoor shows. If a show like 'Fantasmic!' and 'World of Color' cause the shut down of a portion of the park -- it needs to be in a different location. Signed, Grumpy in Merced CA

"I'm hoping that 'World of Color' doesn't become another one of those outdoor shows where you 'have to' be in a certain place for optimum viewing." I agree. I'm in agreement that 7,000 people seems like an awful lot of folks to cram into that one spot. I'm inclined to believe that the estimate is for two shows, not one - unless they meant viewing for the entire rim of the bay. The good news I suppose is that with the park's layout traffic flow at DCA will be hugely better than DL.

It's true that the area has always been there in some form, and that it will continue to be used for other things, but I think it's quite clear that the area's primary purpose going forward is as a WoC viewing area, so I think the right thing to do is to optimize for this purpose and let the secondary uses make do. As for the speaker towers and other such things that also obscure views, well, to the extent they're necessary for WoC, they're necessary. That's no reason to add additional things that block even more views that aren't needed for the show.

True, but on the other hand shade is something to consider because of two primary features of the park when it isn't functioning as an amphitheater for WOC. The first being the stage and the second being the interactive fountain. Maybe if those things weren't there then the lack of shade wouldn't be such a big deal.
