Or is it just individual by individual?<< For families or groups enjoying the park together, each person's passport has to be scanned before pressing the "button" to play the lotto. This is all done vie touch-sensitive TV monitors. The CM will ask what show or showtime you want to try for and HOW MNAY in your party. If you have six people for example... the CM will scan all 6 passports, then go over your selections. Once you have agreed the info is correct, the CM will bring up the "press here" screen. Once you press on the TV monitor, it takes a second for the TV screen to tell you. "Congratulations!" or "Not a winner " If you win, the computer will issue you 6 seat assigments for the entire party to be able to sit together for the show. YES! The seats in front of the castle are numbered by section, row and seat. No room for mistakes or over-assigment of seats. It's that precise. While NOT winning sucks, the fairness on the system comes from the fact that I can enter the park at 5pm and try the lotto for the 6pm show at the castle and still win! ..and I have won great seats in that fashion. One catch: if you loose, you are done for the day. You can't go back and try the lotto again, so that those who have not had a chance to play it, can have a crack at it. It's as fair a system as you can get.

Usually the one's who are early risers, and can't understand why there are people who are not.< see I fully understand while some may not be, but then the perk goes away. On days when we CHOOSE to go to BB or TL in the morning and then to the parks in the afternoon, if I go to EPCOT after dinner I expect the FP's to be gone for TT and Soarin' - it is a choice I made that day and I did what I wanted to do. No griping and no complaining. Those who got the FP's didn't get to enjoy the water parks or 3 extra cups of coffee - they also made their choice

That's OK - I've gotten somewhat used to your abuse. Doesn't mean I like it, or even understand it. >Except when those FP riders are walking by, in full view of the Standby line.< It's a frustration that should happen exactly one time - the first time a newbie finds himself in a slow line, watching others pass by, and asks "hey, how do I get in that fast line?" After that, it becomes a matter of choice. I CHOOSE to stand in the slower line or bypass the ride, just like I used to choose to stand in a 90 minute Splash line on a busy day, or bypass it. And when I find out that all the FP's are gone for the day, I have the option to show up earlier the next day to score one.

So all I have to do is "understand" FP, and then I don't have to wait in Standby lines anymore? When the FP's are gone it still gripes me when people pass by, whatever the reason.

We could eliminate all our problems by simply eliminating the Standby Line altogether. FORCE all the Standby people to learn and use FP, and then we can ALL get to the head of the line.
Originally Posted By danyoung >So all I have to do is "understand" FP, and then I don't have to wait in Standby lines anymore?< I assumed that your (or anybody's) frustration comes from not knowing why one line is moving faster than the other. I personally don't feel the frustration that you do when standing in a slower moving line, as I know I had the opportunity to take advantage of FP if I'd been at the park earlier. Actually, I'll rarely stand in a line of much longer than 30 minutes for any attraction, as I know I can hit it early the next morning to avoid the line. But that's me. >It's a matter of striking a better balance between privelege (yes, "available" for everyone), and in-your-face inconvenience.< I can understand this point of view. I don't share it, but I'm willing to admit that perhaps the "in-your-face inconvenience" is more of an annoyance to some than I've noticed.
