He's all over the papers here in NYC today, obviously. And yeah, if I stepped on an airplane and heard "your pilot today is Charles Sullenberger," I'd feel pretty good (and kind of privileged).

He sounded tired, she said. "Don't you think it would shake you up?" she said. She credited the pilot, Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III, with landing the plane. "It all happened so fast. The captain is the captain of the ship. He makes the decision on what to do," Deloris Skiles said. "He realized they were going down. There was a nice open place in front of them to land -- the Hudson. There were no ferries, so he put it down." After the crash, Jeffrey Skiles found life preservers and handed them to passengers who were standing on the plane's wing waiting to be rescued. "I know he did everything he could," his mother said. "He's a modest fellow and a very modest man." She said she saw a passenger interviewed on TV who said the pilot had given him his shirt after they got out of the plane. Based on the number of stripes on the sleeve, she said it appeared to be her son's shirt. "I'm worried about him, that he doesn't even have a jacket," she said. Jeffrey Skiles, 49, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught at a now defunct Madison flight school, his mother said. He started flying when was 15-years-old, said his father, James J. Skiles. The co-pilot's wife, Barbara Skiles, said she didn't hear about what happened until her husband called Thursday to tell her he was all right. By Friday morning, she was tiring of all the attention and just wanted to resume taking down her Christmas tree and running errands. She took her phone off the hook to stop the calls. The last time she talked to her husband was Thursday night when he called from his hotel, Barbara Skiles said. He was wearing the same clothes that he had been rescued in and they were still wet, several hours after the crash, she said. "Someone was kind enough to give him clean underwear," she said. But otherwise, her husband planned to put on the same pilot's uniform Friday. He didn't talk about his role in the crash, Barbara Skiles said, and she doesn't know when he'll talk to investigators. Deloris Skiles said her son told her he had been flying with the pilot since Monday. Both Deloris Skiles and her husband were licensed pilots and flew single-engine recreational airplanes. Jeff and his two brothers rode with them frequently while growing up, she said.

I find that refreshing that they haven't been manipulated, and that someone like Larry King hasn't been able to ask them some inane questions, making everyone uncomfortable. The night of the incident, King actually had Dr. Phil McGraw on his show because McGraw is a pilot. THAT'S farcical television.

How the hell do they know the best were kept 2. What an ignorant comment for anyone watching who has lost a job in the last 18 months - you know 6 million or so Can someone confirm this was FOX
