I was truly honored and in awe I have to tell you. But I have also played for coaches who always knew better than the players. I coached basketball for 15 years-- and lots of little trophies etc..that MY PLAYERS earned.. with some help and guidance..but I never questioned their skills or knowledge of the game. I live in a city where basketball is huge..played in the CHicago State summer league- with players like Doc Rivers ( whom I saw in HS) -Mark Aguirre, Isiah and kids he's likely never heard of like Kevin Duckworth -Troy Richardson etc. & lots of urban legends I was a role player - a 6'3" guard who had lots of HS accolades but was a speed bump in the parking lot of these players... I can imagine if I tried to 'coach em up' - once the laughter died down it probably would have been funny I'm not saying TINK has not hockey knowledge- he obviously has-- but he sees blindness everywhere but in the mirror as far as opinions.... I like my Hawks to be sure, but have no illusions about them winning it all this year..hell I'm a Cub fan, so being realistic is something I have 50+ years of training in when it comes to sports expectations. But, I also know what I know about the game. Unless this person tells me he played with Patrick Kane and this is how people think about him then I don't want to hear it. I know Stan Mikita thinks the world of the kid and that's enough for me - as that is an ex player that calls him as he sees him, brutally honest. Kaner is no choir boy - well duh ! But a whiner and coward- really strong words to use with no first hand knowledge don't ya think ? I haven't seen Kaner put anyone out with cheap shots like Torres. It's hockey man, and Ive got the scars, 3 fake front teeht and one knee surgery to prove it...it's rough out there- at most levels.
