There are things at WDW for all kinds of people, not just people with kids. You don't need to have kids going to a place like this that they won't enjoy anyway. I believe Disney provides baby sitting services so parents can get away for the evening. There's nothing wrong with them doing this, and the rule was obviously put in place for a reason, so big deal.

I'm also not sure if you meant the newscast was clumsy (I did think so), or Disney. I don't feel like Disney did anything wrong. I'm not sure how they could have handled it better, since they aren't building another 5 star restaurant. I am more concerned about changes that effect millions, than those that effect 150 or so per night (and really, less than that - since most people don't bring underage kids with them). And yup - there are a lot posts. Most V&A, some boxer shorts and Hooters posts. I love kids - but if I'm spending $125 - $200.00 plus tax and tip for dinner, plus getting dressed up nicely, I kind of prefer a more adult setting.

There are still no adults-only restaurants at WDW, this is as close to it as it gets. Someone mentioned (I believe here) that Disney has taken some nice dining locations and made them character dining. Why not allow for some adult dining too?

There are also several ways they could have made the exact change more gracefully. They could have changed the name of the restaurant and reopened it as child only. But after years of developing the reputation that's not a good idea. If I was going to ban kids from V$As. I would have closed it for a week make a few changes, tweeking type changes(Like a chioce of different scented warm moist towels to start off with). Reopen it as a plussed V$As with kids free as one of the kicked up additions.

Originally Posted By jonvn "Because they opened themselves up for getting slammed in the national media." Ok, they were slammed, and now it's over. And the place will just go on as before. "There will never be anything odd about a half naked girl sitting at my table while I'm eating wings" It was creepy and a bit depressing.

Then I freaked myself out going parasailing. I did go to a beach - I think it was on St. Marten (one of the St. places). It was a very naked beach, once you got away from the tourist crowd.

This whole topic goes to the bigger issue of Disney trying to make sure the general public knows that it isn't just a kid's place. The comedians and pundits cracking about this obviously are not familar with all that is Disney. And sure, it makes for an easy joke.
