I'm sure it was a huge deal to the miners.

Just pointing out that, about a week after I predicted that the miner story would last about a week, the big news is ... ANITA HILL?????

    Seriously? Anita friggin' Hill?

What's really said is you measure the impact of a story by a fickle news cycle.

Look at the "Baby Jessica" story (which was brought up during the miner rescue). The story is not completely forgotten, even after all these years.

I have no idea if such claims are true, I'd love to learn more from unbiased sources (relatively unbiased, anyway).

It amazes me that this happened during my college years, and yet I was so uncaring I paid little attention to it at the time. I literally MISSED history in the making! (little chance of that happening these days, I'm far too obsessed with politics now compared to back in those simpler days when I didn't give a crap lol).

And from a former girlfriend of the Justice: <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130757782&ps=cprs" target="_blank">http://www.npr.org/templates/s...&ps=cprs</a>

Unfortunately, the Congressional Record online begins in 1994, so the official record of witness lists and such for Justice Thomas' confirmation hearing are not easily available.
