She plainly stated that Obama's role in the book is small, and that she hasn't even written his (1) chapter yet. Are you calling her a liar?

But I think that there are few moderators out there that are writing books about one or the other right now. "Considering that the book in question is apparently about ALL current prominent black politicians..." I don't think that she was planning on the book being that loooooong. I quote again from the article ""Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama." She focuses on the Democratic nominee and such up-and-coming black politicians...". And don't even go there trying to throw a race card. If you want to have as clean a debate as possible, you have a moderator as far removed from the BOTH of them as possible. That's the facts whether you agree with them or not.

If she does a good job of moderating, I don't care if she's McCain's mother.

If they really wanted THAT, they could bring in a moderator from some other country who knew little about the candidates at all!

You Dems are in total crisis mode as is represented by the dozens of nasty anti Rep topics started here. So throw your little troll like phrases out there like "Are you calling her a liar" and "You Repubs have such a cute little bunch of definitions of the word "facts." It's like a guessing game which one you'll use next" and "one could say that these complaints about Ifill are a racist attack". If nothing else, they are good for a laugh.
Originally Posted By mawnck >>You Dems are in total crisis mode as is represented by the dozens of nasty anti Rep topics started here. << Actually, this is called "total gloat mode," premature though it may be.

If Brit Hume was to write a book about McCain during the campaign, then I would think he shouldn't moderate a debate involving McCain either. Is it so hard to understand this? She should recuse herself, not wait to be removed (well, she should already have done that, or just not accepted the invitation to moderate). The whole process should be kept as transparent as possible.

I don't live in America and I certainly am not "in crisis mode" since the election will affect me not one little bit. I just find the whole story amusing, and I post a lot about it. Nice try though.

There is nothing in her record to suggest she is "in the tank" for Obama. That she wrote a couple of articles for Essence and is writing a book about "how politics in the black community have changed since the civil rights era" does not imply that. The book apparently also includes discussion of Colin Powell. Does that means she's "in the tank" for Republicans? To see Ifill called into question this way is disturbing. John Quincy Adams said, "All men profess honesty as long as they can. To believe all men honest would be folly. To believe none so is something worse."
