Night to do a light romantic comedy, or a western, or a musical or... something. He's no Rod Serling. I do think The Happening had some of the most unintentionally funny lines of dialogue ever. And it's instantly "MST3K"-able. Oh, and on topic, i haven't seen W.

There's some entertainment value in watching actors portray people we're familiar with, but the story just wasn't there. Stone breezed through most of the touchstone moments - although interestingly he passed on 9/11. Brolin is terrific at channeling bush's tics and mannerisms, and Dreyfuss' take on Cheney is appropriately snide and villainous. He somewhat redeemed himself from his last outing on 'Poseidon'. I thought the Condi character was the most fun, and had the most laughs. She might disagree. The real problem is that the story structure had very little of a beginning, middle and end. We already know what story there is before we even sit down. Nothing is resolved by the end of the movie, and it was a bit too long at two hours plus. The thrust of the story seems to be W's struggle with the relationship with his father, Bush I. Much is made about W's "born again" conversion and his faith, so a case could be made that Stone was making an allegory about seeking approval from authority figures. But who really cares. I'd recommend waiting for the rental - at least that way when you get bored you can either FF or head to the kitchen.
