Thanks. I 've owned a few since my days on Wall St in the mid 80's. Back then it was what brokers did. Now, I just love the car even though a lot of people tell me that I should buy American or that it's a waste of

Mine is right as you pass through security. It's awesome when friends or relatives call me from Disney and say that they saw it. I get a lot of pictures via text of it from them. Kinda makes me feel like I'm always there.

I won't deny for a second that all of these programs were at least partially designed to make Disney money. But they have also brought a lot of happiness to the individuals who participated. I've had my smiling face on the Legacy obelisks since 1999, and I totally enjoy the idea that even when I'm at home in Dallas my face is there to greet the millions of visitors.

So, money making gimmick for Disney? Sure. Money well spent? For me, absolutely!

I love my brick and I have a great location-right as you pass through security at the MK. I don't even have to go out of my way to find it.

We love pin trading. It does suck the money right out of our wallet but we love it. What better way to increase positive guest CM interaction than a great never ending scavenger hunt which is what pin trading really is. I can't even count the number of great CMs we have met through pin trading and the magic they have created.

And if I had the extra dough I would love a picture and a brick also! I also like these themes because they are voluntary and not justanother way to nickel and dime me. If I don't want to buy one then I don't have to and I am not lessening my Disney experience.

Wow, can one be more bitter ?

DVC robbed people - really ? You might need a math class- especially for early buyers. I absolutely can show you where mine ( with 7 years of free park passes) absolutely paid for itself longbefore 2000 and I could sell it for what I paid for it today..
I wish more people would rob me like that

I never liked leave a legacy personally - but for those who do - if they are happy with it, I'll bet they don't feel robbed.

Same goes for pin trading - some people took it too far and ruined some of the exprience - nut my kids always loved trading with cast members -

No one held a gun to anyone's head to partake in any of these...

Positive CM-guest interactions can be encouraged in ways other than pin-trading, which is really just another way for Disney to get into the wallets of the die-hard fans.

I don't care if people spend their money on bricks, Epcot graveyard pictures, or pins. But it does make me see Disney as a money-grubbing corporation, and that doesn't make the parks seem more magical. It makes WDW seem more tacky to me.

and some of that is a good thing - I really believe that ( the fact that you see thet Disney is somewhere between the magic pixie dust and Bank of America.

Too many people think that somehow Disney runs only on pixie dust. I read them here all the time - they want 5 new E tickets every year- but whoa- raise ticket prices and the company is evil.

Disney is a big time corporation with all the nastiness that surrounds one such entitly ( I have worked for a large corp for 31 years and I have seen the good and the bad ) -
they have armies of lawyers, they look for ways to balance their risk, yes they look for ways to exploit things when they're going well and make every cent they can.... all true. Like all major corporations they are not the 'perfect employer' - however like mot large corps - they are not the devil incrnate either.

There is a trade off --

They do supply us however with magical dreams and times - and much more good than bad experience wise. Could they do some things better - you bet, and it's up to people like us and others to continue to let them know that. But they also aren't some sucky cess pool Ponza scheme or ENRON entity trying to scam money from futures they themselves concoct.

So seeing them as less than 100% magical is very healthy.
I am a stockholder as are my kids, VDC owner ( multiples) - AP ( even though I lie 1200 miles away from closest park) - I own animation cells and WDCC- I am a member of D23 -- yet I never, ever forget that there is a corporate HQ behind all of this, with some very competent people as well as some very incompetent people for their levels/positons, just like any other company.

When I am at WDW I choose to enjoy the escapism /magic - and the other 50 weeks a year or so, I look to compliment them when they deserve it and rip them for things that dilute the experience we all pay a heavy price for.
