Why do you all keep equating a Wall*E attraction based on plot of the film????

The Indiana Jones attraction is not based on any specific film. They took the basic premise - the characters, certain elements that make the basic concept .. but is not based on any of the plots of any of the films.

    Same thing with Star Tours.

    I'm all for a Wall-E attraction.

What I'm not for is a Wall-E attraction based on the FILM!

What I think some of you are thinking ...
Is how you all came to really enjoy Wall-E for himself .. and some of the situations that DID catch your imagination .. like the Axiom spaceship .. the lovable qualities of Eva, and some of the quirky qualities of some of the other droids.

I'm sure none of you who saw the film actually want to see a re-enactment of the film's plot ... With an apocalyptic Earth.

But what I think those of you into the idea are actually all about something using the basic characters.

How about a prequel Wall-E when he was perfectly clean .. and on some outerspace adventures .. exploring other planets. With space ships envolved ... but the main thing ... he's all clean.

The idea behind A ride would be the situations around Wall-E and his human characteristics.

But if any such ride has to revolve around him being a trash collector ... well .. then ........ I hope Disney NEVER does an attraction where trash is one of the main set pieces.

I have to say I am VEHEMENTLY against any attraction in Tomorrowland where filth, trash, and visions of a depressed environment are part of an attraction.

    No thanks!

That idea feels to me like it exudes the essence many of the posters in this topic are showing, close-mindedness. The fact of the matter is, the fight should not necessarily be against character additions to the parks, but against using characters as the sole defining characteristic of the ride. I am all-for rides being based upon characters of any sort so long as the rides themselves are quality attractions as a whole. Disney often times seems to feel that they only need to supply one or the other, characters or quality. I would love to see more integration of both into future attractions, and I believe that trend is already beginning to a degree with the massive budgets behind the Cars attraction and the Little Mermaid attractions planned for DCA.

Not if it means an attraction which carries a story line involving a post apocalyptic Earth!

Ya! Real NICE fit for Tomorrowland.

    "Hey mom ...
I guess in the future we get to look forward to the Earth becoming uninhabitable for hundreds of years!"

This fits as much as the proposed plan to have Alien Encounter in Disneyland back in 1990!

What about an Epcot-like attraction simply about advances in robotics? Show off Asimo. Wall-e would be your host.

I am not against a Wall-E attraction per se. What I am against is always falling back on characters as a crutch. Disney theme parks seems to be reducing themselves to Pixar characters, princesses, and pirates.

I would be thrilled if Disney created a TL attraction with a look to the future, and Wall-E is included as a "hidden Mickey," like the Mighty Miicroscope is in Star Tours. I would probably be disappointed in a TL attraction where Wall-E was the star and the ride was not much different in tone and execution than Monsters Laugh Floor or Space Ranger Spin.

While I may be convinced that it would be possible to do a good Wall-E attraction, there is NO WAY you'd ever convince me that Wall-E himself would be a good host for one. ;-)

ITA. I saw it yesterday. I didn't know (or care) anything about it before stepping foot into the theater. It uh... wasn't exactly the "feel good" film I was expecting.

Sure, it has a hopeful end. Sure, the characters are cute.

But... I felt manipulated by the plot. It was irritating.

As cute as Wall E and his little pal (Eve? Eva? Whatever) were, I don't think I could get excited about an attraction planned around their world.

Even as much as I love those nerdy Epcot-esque future-visions with upside-down growing tomatoes and what-not, it doesn't exactly scream excitement or E-ticket.
