Disney pre FP was great - lines continued to move; misters and air con were used; queues were themed; and there was often live entertainment near the biggest lines. To me that was far better than what we have today.

Is this serious? Never heard of "mentally delayed". Is that a new one?

I think if you know how to use the system, you can make it work to your advantage. But I'll also admit that my group never tries to do every single thing in the park. We're perfectly happy to skip many of the attractions since we've seen and done everything multiple times. That's the advantage to having stale theme parks: we don't feel particularly rushed to do what we've done before.

I've done it before. IDK how the hell I did it, but I've done it.

explain that feeling to the many families that scrape together jut enough money to go once or twice in a lifetime then have to explain to their kids why fat wallets go first...

I can afford it and would likely pay for it if Disney instituted because I have gotten so used to fastpass -- but really for all the bitcin that goes on here about Disney gouging guests- what would people call this ? I know - it's Uni so it's smart not gouging..

---- if all of your trips to WDW were in summer because kids are in school and unlike our Euro friends- on holiday is not a 7-8 weeka year deal...
you would feel different. The lines NEVER moved quickly as you stood in 100 degree heat index day after day...

I did this for 20 years....

I truly thought I had tore a muscle down below after riding it last week. I should have gone to City Hall and started hurling f-bombs and demanded a free $5K vacation. ... Pathetic, but that seems to work for trash that feels wronged because it rained or there were lines.

Don't you mean 'buffalo' as Mrs. VBDAD has grown fond of calling him?

I guess a better way to say it may be Disney is exploiting a very frayed segment of our society who feel the need to retreat to a childhood that never was and never will be. ;-) <<

<<If someone doesn't want a week of escapism these days they do have mental issues.>>

Escapism is fine ... it's great actually.
But that's not exactly what I meant.

I think you needed to be on my tranatlantic DCL sailing last year to get what I am saying.

There's escaping ... and then there's out of touch with reality before you ever breathe in the first dose of pixie dust.

<<I see nothing wrong in trying to escape back to the fond memories of your childhood with Disney. Even if they don't exist quite the way you remember them. With the number of guest Disney is bringing in, I would suggest that a lot of folks feel that way also.>>

Agreed with the caveat above ... I do wish we were having this discussion over drinks at the Territory Lounge, though. I'm not sure my real point is getting through and not sure I can state it here in a way that won't start a flame war errupting when I don't have the time or energy for one ...

Funny, I stood in line for Forbidden Journey 8 times this summer and the line never stopped once, save for the time it went 101 and some idiot called the fire department. If the ride was in Disney, I'd have waited at least twice as long because the line would stop every time we moved a foot to let the fastpass people though.
