Walt saw very little of the plans for WDW as it exists now. Much of his attention during the last year of his life was for the EPCOT community and, in truth, his interests in the theme parks in general was waning. He showed enthusiasm for new technologies, such as those that would be used in POTC at DL. But his time was spent overseeing the studio and working with a very small group of men to develop a planned community, a planned convention/shopping area, transportation for the new community, and partnerning with mainly American companies to help develop the neighboring industrial park.

I figured as much. He was busy with the new, and I know he was confident that his people could do the job without his day-to-day hands-on. They'd worked with him for many years, and they "already knew how to build a Disneyland."

But I was hoping that someone could say a little about how SOME element of WDW held his personal touch. The castle would have been the most obvious possibility, since the MK would have been first (and originally ONLY park), and the castle would have been a given.

I know how much thought went into the original Disneyland Castle. It would be nice to know that Walt at least saw concept art for the new castle, saw how much grander it was proposed to be than the Disneyland original, and said "Yeah, let's go with that!"

Many new things at WDW/MK reflect Walt's personal desires, if not his personal touch. The utilidors for example. I doubt that they would have happened without Walt having said he wanted them.
