Just a quick, "public service" notice for everybody: here are some potentially toxic common items I see animals ingest all the time:
-Chocolate: I think most people know this.

-Antifreeze: At first animals appear "drunk" after ingesting this (the toxic ingredient in antifreeze is an alcohol). They seem to get better (they sober up), but soon go into irreversible kidney failure. Because owners think they get better they do not bring them in until the signs of kidney failure. If your dog or cat ingests antifreeze, BRING THEM TO A VET IMMEDIATELY.

-Lillies, especially Easter Lillies. These are VERY toxic to cats. Eating just a few leaves can cause kidney failure.

-Grapes. Grapes can cause kidney failure in some dogs. Not all dogs suffer the effects of grapes, but some can die with only a few grapes (we're not sure why).

-Orbitz gum. I once saw a large Golden Retriever almost die after eating three pieces of Orbitz gum.

-Tylenol (especially for cats). I recommend never giving human anti-inflammatory drugs to animals without at least calling your vet. Tylenol can be deadly at the lowest doses, other human anti-inflammatory drugs (Aspirin, Advil) can cause serious problems at the wrong dose as well.

That's just a quick list off the top of my head. If I think of more, I'll add them.

Thanks again for the well wishes, everyone! And thanks for that list bAmboo1 -- I had no idea about grapes!
