It's right next to the entrance to the Foggy Bottom Metro line in front of the hospital, and it's like a buck and it takes you to Georgetown and just runs up Wisconsin Ave.

If you head north from the mall just a few blocks to like E and F street, there's plenty of restaurants.

We are also thinking about going to the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown on Memorial Day.

Many of the monuments and memorials can be visited anytime, and the entire Mall area is especially stunning at night. So if you want to spend more time in the Museums and such, with their rather limited hours, go ahead and do so, and save all the other sights for the early morning or evening.

If you happen to arrive into Washington on Friday, I might suggest the evening parade at the Marine Barracks "8th and I." It requires a reservation, but you can do it online: <a href="http://www.mbw.usmc.mil/parades/" target="_blank">http://www.mbw.usmc.mil/parade

There is a free National Symphony Orchestra concert on the west lawn of the Capitol on Sunday, May 28th at 8:00pm. This is always a favorite event, with many people bringing picnics and enjoying the music under the stars.

There will be a Memorial Day parade going down Pennysylvania Ave. starting at noon.

Be prepared to see a lot of motorcycles: Memorial Day weekend also brings in the annual Rolling Thunder Ride For Freedom.

Like the other areas mentioned, Old Town, Alexandria has many good restaurants as well. Take the Metro Blue or Yellow line to the King Street station. It's a bit of a walk to Old Town proper, but it's a short cab ride... maybe a mile.
