But I too am glad to hear you and DH managed to have a good time. Isn't it always nicer having at least SOMEBODY on the trip who can enjoy it with you? I think thats awesome he was with you all the way on having a blast. >> Shut down the place. Well, it closed at 8 pm, much to my sorrow. No fireworks. No pixie dust. No Tink. << Uh! So uncool, one of the few standout drawbacks of going during the off-season hours. You should have been there - well sarcastically speaking - when my Dad, my best friend, his Mom and Brother all went on a Sunday - sure it was for free (long story) after 4pm, but we saw the worst Mickey vs. Malecifent part of Fantasmic!. And my Dad and best friend were trying to show it to his Mom and I think Brother too for the first time. We're all, "Oh you've gotta see this!". I guess you could say it was, diluted or condensed? The rest of the show was good though, but I know what you mean. >> there's a little Mommie Dearest in me, after all, I guess << I'd say so.

So, yeah. I hear you about the shortened Sunday visit. Why is it that sometimes, the things we hold dearest to our hearts, are trampled by the carelessness of others? If they could only truly understand...truly feel what we feel...I don't think they would be so careless with our hearts. In any case......thank you. This thread is just full of warm fuzzies. xoxo

Absolutely understandible about holding back. Yeah, well what happened is the free visit was because of a ride malfunction (a mild and safe one) on Splash made it a very brief ride. So the CMs helped everyone off and away from the ride and gave us each a special pass that would let us go straight to the front of the line as soon as the ride was working again - that day. Well the ride remained down for the remainder of operating hours that day, so my Dad called the next day to complain about that - not that it was that big a deal especially since they really guarentee the ride would be up and running again, but at the time lol it sure seemed worth letting them know about it. So what they did was arranged for us to return to the park not long after this on a certain day for free if we came by or after 4pm. So we did. When you think about it, that's pretty decent of Disney for something like that. I have no recollection what we did that day (or even if we went on SPLASH of all rides), but this is when we saw Fantasmic!. When Maleficent grew tall, she didn't turn into the dragon. And not only that, Mickey's sword, he just pointed it at her and no special effects, he just held the sword up at her and she did her usual scene where she dies. I don't recall if they managed to have Maleficent still set the river on fire or not. So basically, she looked like she was on the biggest stilts you've ever seen (only covered up by tarps or something). And Mickey's sword was - sniff sniff, apparently just a um, well I know there could be kiddies on here so I won't say anything that might ruin it. I'll go ahead and resend that letter

I don’t know what you went through to get them to even go, but our DD16 did not want to go at all. She managed to cause a trip delay of several months. Even then I “talked” her into coming with us (I would not leave here home alone) by getting her a laptop computer (early grad present) to bring along so she could do homework and communicate with her friends – so important to a 16 year old. Once there she obviously had a lot of fun. Like with you, the Billies help with that. You got Dream Ears, excellent. They are not just any ears, but special. The fireworks from inside the park with all the sights and sounds … a magical experience. Even now watching the video clips I took gets to me. ‘Girls on strike’ … what would they rather do? It’s hard to understand but our DD16 also stayed back a couple of times “to do homework”. Tower of Terror is great; at least DD13 and I think so. I hope this is not your last trip report. You had some good times with them and that is what you will remember way longer than any negative moments. [I did reply to your email a while ago, now I am thinking if you didn’t get DJ7Ks, perhaps you didn’t get mine either?]

I was really afraid for a while that I would not be able to go back to Disneyland at all. It was quite a while before I could even get on LP and I took quite a few of the Disney decorations out of my house along with some of the pictures and gifts from my daughters. I still have flashbacks and cannot believe some of the things my daughters (29 and 35) said to me then and later. So far, only one has apologized. I will send you the email I sent out to my close LP friends. Keep the faith and keep loving Disneyland. Going back with Rod a month later did begin to heal my heart but it is still very much broken. And the 29yo said she thinks it will be *good* for all of us to go back together.

The hard thing is that people like us don't understand those who don't love Disneyland, just like they don't understand us. It can hurt when our family doesn't love or get it, especially if you are there with them. I am sorry you went through this. Don't let this be your last trip report please!
