Excellent cheap thrill. >>> I once got to see it land when it diverted to Edwards AFB due to weather. I was in SoCal visiting friends, and found out just after midnight that it was diverting. So we got up at something like 4am and drove out to Edwards. They had grandstands set up as a viewing area at a safe distance. I was surprised how many people showed up for an unscheduled landing. It was cool to hear the double sonic booms, see the chase planes and helicopters, and then see it drop out of the sky almost like a rock as it comes in for landing.
