Have you looked at a comparison of theme park earnings from the 90s and today? Despite additional parks, attractions, gates, hotels, etc, Disney's parks business doesn't earn any more today than it did a decade ago. From a purely dollars and cents standpoint, theme parks and attractions are a loser. Unless the studio starts minting money again (like it did in the early 90s with Lion King and others), don't expect to see much more than a conservative approach to theme park spending. Without a profitable studio, the parks have to contend with their own cash flows -- which aren't sufficient for major captial expenditures across all of the parks that exist.

I hear they like to crawl into upscale gated communities in southern Florida, while looking for free food. I meant to ask if you've ever bumped into one. I loved to read Dave Barry.

I know we've had this discussion ad nauseum but when Disney wasn't putting $$$ into the parks (when they were printing money allegedly in the 'alleged' great boom years of either Clinton or Bush, depending on your partisan politics ... my feelings are there was a great economic fraud perpetrated on the American public that began before Clinton, gained a tremendous amount of steam when he was in the White House and then went into sixth gear when W took over but 'nother story), it just seems like Disney's business model is invest as little as possible in WDW no matter whether times are great, awful or in between.<< What are your thoughts on President Obama?

By the way Disney is actually claiming The Crossroads (which they never did before the monorail ax.) When the EVIL left wing MEDIA set up shop at "The Crossroads" during the "incedent" they tolerated it. But a week later we got the memo that we were no longer welcome at "Disney's Crossroads". So now we have to set up our Live Shots on the "Western Way" entrance. It's like Disney believes that by not being able to set up at the crossroads the international media will simply ignore an employee being killed on Disney's Monorail system. Yeah, good luck with that!!!!

That is why when EE and some of the folks at that other site start talking about all this new stuff to be announced I get very skeptical. Anyone with any business sense can tell you that based on Disney's actions there not going to be adding anything aside from whats announced.

Now it will be a minimum of 5 years before the housing market starts to recover some...( 3 times that long to recover most of lost value- with some areas never getting it all back as it was grossly overvalued to begin with. Job will never be the same again in the traditional snse- as off shoring has taken care of that - but something new always comes along. One need look no further than the great depression to see what a long road recovery is..this was not a bump in the road, it was major breakage... and while we seen the nonsense days of .com which was mostly smoke and mirrors ( with a few exceptions) - nor the insane real estate run up in places like California and Florida ( though not as bad or high there) - and Vegas / Phoenix... I think 'normalcy' will be here in 10-15 years...no sooner
