There's tally marks on both sides of this equation.

TDR, just to use a very fresh example , constantly has new offerings. Not simply attractions, although they do add them and they often are E-Ticket caliber, but simple things like seasonal entertainment. How long has WDW (or DL for that matter) been playing the same Christmas parade (sure they'll add Tangled characters to the princess float but it's still 99.9% the same)? TDR has a new parade this year and that's pretty much how things are done. Next year, they'll have another new one. They have a new X-mas pyro show (not as impressive as Christmas Wishes or Believe in Holiday Magic to be fair) but it's an addition. They have amazing new stage shows that have been added like Christmas Wishes and an X-mas version of the incredible Big Band Beat at TDS. Hell, they even have special bags when you buy your merchandise that is specifically themed to this year's Christmas event. And guess what? When 12/26 comes, all of it will be gone. It won't stick around. Decorations will come down over night (like they once did at WDW, not now where you can show up on MLK weekend and depending on your resort still find X-mas going on!) People simply accept crap in FLA and defend it. Simple as that. Why should Disney do anything for the 40th? It doesn't need to. Just sell some new DVC, retro tees and vinyl and all is right, right? I keep saying this, but I do simply because it's true. Disney gets away with what it does because it can (although Potter clearly has made some impact and WDW's numbers are not what they want them to be). WDW is simply all about shilling the Disney brand (yes, all resorts are to some extent, but nothing like WDW) and people eat it up. The problem is they are eating low quality ground beef when being told they're having filet mignon. I'm hungry! I'm hungry for CHANGE!!!!

Those marketing blitzes are fine when they actually come with substance, 2000 saw IllumiNations, Tapestry, the Millenium Viliage, MSEP, Innoventions, and FitS. Not exactly E Tics, but Tapestry and IllumiNatiins were pretty great headliners. But idiotic strategies like YoaMD, WWYC, and LTMB, have no substance and fall flat.

You talking to me??? You talking to me??? The Spirit who is carrying around all sorts of stuff for you???! <<Not exactly E Tics, but Tapestry and IllumiNatiins were pretty great headliners. >> I'll give you those two, of course. But it was also a giant cartoon wand, pintrading and the graveyard out front. Some substance there, but not enough. That's why Disney's attendance fell hugely starting late in 2000, which led right into the recession and 9/11, after a great 1999 into 2000. <<But idiotic strategies like YoaMD, WWYC, and LTMB, have no substance and fall flat.>> The masses eat that crap up like dung beetles. ~The Spirit's Disney-Hating Round The World 2010 Tour: April: Disney Magic 15-day transatlantic eastbound; May: WDW; August: DLR; September: WDW; October: WDW, HKDL; November: HKDL, TDR; December: TDR, HKDL and ??? ~

Everything overstayed it's welcome. Even LaL. Thought it was kewl in 2000.
