But it's mostly on the food and beverage ... wonder if Tom Kelly's company is back in the Mouse's good graces on the consulting end. When you see them shrink soft serve ice cream and Dole Whips by at least a third and then raise the prices, you see how ravenous the nickel and diming is. When one person buying a QSR meal can run from $8-13, I'll grab something before or after the park. Room rates are another issue, although they are discounted constantly now. But do rates over $100 or $200 with substantial discounts sound good to you when you can use Priceline and snag a suite at the Hyatt Place for $35 a night ... or a deluxe level resort room at the DD Hilton for $60 ... or a very high end deluxe resort like Gaylord Palms for $80? Not to me. But the pixie dust on property can't blind me that much. And I would really like to stay at DAK Lodge again (maybe a villa) or try the new rooms at BW Inn and Coronado Springs. But times are tough and I need to be realistic too. I stayed off-property for 11 days in July and now I have the money to spend most of September in Paris and LA (including visiting both Disney resorts in said areas). In hindsight, I sure wouldn't trade my future trips for a WDW resort room in July.

Swan/Dolphin/Hilton all give you that as well. And they aren't very particular when it comes to checking whether its a current key or one from last January! If someone has moral/ethical issues with such scandalous behavior (just in time for Nikki's comeback!) ... folks are free to stay and shop, eat or soak up the atmosphere as cards are only needed at attraction entrances. And I gotta tell ya a good 50% of the time, CMs had very little interest in checking.

I won't be this time ... although I will be staying at the DLH at some point in the future. This is a Paris trip, not DLP per se. I will look to see if they have the mugs though. As an FYI as to how crazy DLP hotels are priced, I was quoted a rate of $180 a night at Newport Bay (wouldn't stay there again for free) and $625 at DLH ... yeah, you read that right ... and both were AFTER a 40% cast discount (but hey, they did include breakfast!)
