My parents stayed at the Pop Century in dec 2004 and it was not reall that cheap in the long run..and my mother was not happy about the size of the room, the design of the closet space and limitation in the bathroom space, and the cleanliness around the buildings and other facilities. Needless to say.. She won't be staying there again. In contrast, I stayed at the Hollywood Hotel in HKDL for a similar price paid by my mother at the Pop Century... I got very elegant art decco surroundings in the room and hotel facilities. Great furnishings in my room, complete with closet (as opposed to the open hanger bar they have at Pop), some ammenities in the room that included coffee maker, mini bar, iron and board.. Lovely decor in the bathroom with an excellent raindrop style wide shower head that made it difficult to leave the shower stall every morning...*aaagh!* Many folks get easily carried away by the fact that these inferior facilities are "on property" and also by the whimsical (if not tacky at times) decor that Eisner had commisioned for these facilitites.. Personally, staying off property can enhance your trip to Orlando and WDW if you choose the right hotel and have a rental car to get around, but many people shortchange their vacation by playing into Disney's aim, which is to keep tourists trapped withing the property. There more to Orlando than just WDW and Universal.

When are people going to stop blaming Michael Eisner for things they don't like about Disney... If you don't like Disney and what they stand for or do... then go a Universal Message Board... better yet just go away....

Maybe when you show proof that you are a worthy poster on LP and contribute as much knowledge and information, trip reports and photos from all Disney resorts around the World as much as I have in the past 6 years I have been a contributor and participant of LP, ... then maybe I will respect your point of view... In the meantime: SHUT UP. You haven't got a clue outside your cocoon. >>goofy47 and TDLFAN sittin in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G ...<< Is he pretty? I am South Beach and all.... I'd concider it.

As a single guy, it's not really a big concern of mine either, although when I can afford to, I will get a nice room at a fancy hotel. But for others, things like the size of the bathroom _do_ matter. Perhaps they have a big family, or it's four women sharing a room. Whatever the situation, it's what they want.
