Andy ... whose arse are you trying to protect?

We could cut out a lot of BS here if you just fessed up.

OK ... I try and respond in order but this needs an ASAP answer ... the bed wouldn't support the three of us.

It was a Crowne Plaza, not Four Seasons!

Yeah, but I'll bet those days on the road with the circus, going from town to town, sleeping with the bearded lady, shoveling up from the elephants gave you something one of them edUcations never would ... real life experience!

    >> However I'm curious at your litmus test of forcing people who post here to disclose this infomation. <<

<<My dear Sir or Madame, I'm afraid you are overreacting. I can't force anyone here to say or do anything. I merely ask questions. You are free to respond or not responded. >>

Good point ... but why do I always feel a need to respond to one of your posts?

    >> Are you going to ask Doobie to disclose this infomation? <<

<<You're right I really should. Doobie do you run a web site. Doobie do you post a blog. Doobie does Disney compensate you for anything that you post.>>

It's Friday night and I think Doobie is unavailable right now ...

<<Shouldn't you ask me the same questions. I promise I won't be as defensive as you if you do.>>

Don't you always think if someone is THAT defensive they must have something to hide?

<<Anybody else out there care to fess up to taking payola from Mickey?>>

I am on Mickey's Most Wanted List for Soda Thievary ... Nikki turned me in!

    >> Are you going to ask Spirit to disclose their sources so we can judge the validity of the information posted here? <<

<<Andy, (you never did say if I could call you Andy or not, but I like keeping our discussions on a friendly informal bases) I go on a persons track record here at LP. Spirit has a very good one. He is very well established here as well as other Disney forums. Might I also add that he is reviled in a lot of circles also. That's understandable though since he drinks Starbucks iced lattes.>>

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I'd rather have gotten a free dinner at Jiko, but that's just me.

And due to economic hardship and lots of coupons, I now am a regular at Dunkin Donuts, not Starbucks. See ... the depression even affects the rich! :)

<<As I stated before I do not expect anyone to pass around the names of their sources. Just between you, and me though I personally think that Spirit's source is Miss Cleo.>>

What if I told you I ran into her once (SERIOUSLY!) in a 7-11?

And she told me Disney was going to kill PI (and this was in 1997) .... (OK, this part is NOT true!)

    >> This thread is becoming a witchhunt and does not reflect well on laughingplace or its posters. <<

<<Well I believe that each poster is responsible for what they say. Personally I just see a bunch of Disney fans stating their opinions.>>

Yeah, me too. ... But our pal Andy is setting the groundwork to try and see if he can get this thread closed. Seeing as how long it has gone on and how civil it has been and how insiders like Leemac and Indigo have chimed in ... well, I don't see that happening.

<<Now when you start seeing me stacking rocks on the press that incases a Disney Fanboi Blogger, then, and only then, should you accuse me of being party to a witch hunt.>.

A witch hunt?!??! What better way to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend (since like most holidays it has been bastardized in such a way to not at all reflect its original purpose)!

<<Now Andy, care to tell me why this topic has seemed to have touched a raw nerve with you? Especially since you are not a Disney Fanboi Blogger.>>

My guess is Andy would like to be flown by Disney to O-Town ... put up at the GF for 4-5 nights, given tickets to the parks, meal vouchers (the REAL ones ... not the QS variety that go to 'lesser' media) and perhaps a day at the spa with free treatments to calm his very jangled nerves.

    Just a guess, though!

I have an idea why this is upsetting to Andy. I believe it's related to this previous statement made by him:

<<I am affiliated with a small disney website.>>

I'm guessing that the head of this particular site is very upset with the OP -- Spirit -- for starting this thread, and the message that Spirit is communicating, regarding how Burbank is now investigating these "social media" sites and merchandise and services associated with them, like video DVDs of the parks and the private tours being given by some of the fan personalities like Mr. Mongello. So naturally, Andy is coming to the defense of this person and the site that he/she runs. He's come to the thread to defend this individual since he/she obviously doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to defend themselves.>>

    THIS!!!

I really wish some of these folks who are reading ... from Mongello to Disney mouthpieces like Thomas Smith would join the discussion.

If you aren't doing anything wrong, then you should have no fear in talking about it, right? (that's what I am always told when I am strip-searched at airports!)

There are a whole lot of people enegaging in hand-wringing and 'what are we gonna do's?' and 'how can we make this go away?' and (my personal fave) 'what's this guy's effing problem?!?' behind the scenes ... that alone tells me that something's going on that either is unethical or borderline illegal or just wouldn't smell right to most 'regular' folks if suddenly a story were to somehow be placed in mainstream media about Disney and Social Media.

I know these people won't come on here because cockroaches run for cover when you turn the lights on. But it is amusing nonetheless.

It is unfortunate that some good people with ethics in the fan community may get painted by the same brush here ... but ultimately that isn't this Spirit's fault. It is Disney's for the arse-end backwards anything goes way they've chosen to run their Social Media Department (oh, and lest anyone thinks that this Spirit may be sending a not so subtle message to his pals in Burbank that he could do a MUCH better, fairer and ethical job running that department in O-Town ... all I can say is 'Damn straight!'

<<I'll just leave it at that, before I, uh, step into it even further.>>

And I'll leave it at that and start trying to figure out what I'm doing this holiday weekend.

I do look forward to watching this thread and where it goes ...

    Happy Friday, all! :)

Actually, I think LP is the PERFECT place to conduct a witch-hunt. Already there are three old biddies that outright proclaim themselves to be witches. Add to that a fair number of LP'ers who like to present themselves in a rather Gothic way, and figure a pretty fair percentage of them are witches too.

And that is just scratching the surface... identifying the easy ones. How many times have you read a post by a particularly strident female LP'er and said to yourself "Wow... is she ever being a *itch tonight!) Sometimes you say witch, sometimes you say something else. Either way, you can pretty well add BOTH groups to the suspect list.

When you get right down to it, a pretty large percentage of female LP’ers are likely witches. There would be an easy way to test for it... follow them around the MK sometime. If they ride Snow White, BINGO! You know they are a witch. Don't ride Snow White but ride Haunted Mansion? Still a witch... just a witch in the closet. The only way you know for sure they are NOT a witch is if they visit NEITER attraction during their time at the MK.

Sorry to spend so much time on this, but I though it was a rather important topic. ;-)

Can't you get arrested for hunting witches out of season?

    Absolutely gross and misleading overstatement.

You can spot a "pixie duster"/WDC apologist a MILE OFF, can't ya? Always perplexes me when somebody CANNOT STAND strangers offering VALID criticism regarding an intangible entity like a company that the first person has no vested interest in.

    Or DOES he?

They would probably have a hard time keeping down their expensive, company-bought lunch!

My understanding from knowing a couple of people who work/worked in the company is that if you ACTIVLEY LIKE the product, you are considered a little "off".

I knew one person who worked at DL when Splash was being built and he would stay back after work and talk with builders and imagineers at the site and his manager and fellow staff started gossiping behind his back and basically started a campaign to get him fired. He made the mistake of having too much passion and being too "into" the company and this threatened other CMs.

You see, you have to have that sleezy career mentality where you say all the right corporate-speak buzz words and schmooze the right a******s but not appear TOO passionate about the actual product. It's a thin line to walk and he couldn't do it to the satisfaction of the people above and around him.

The second person I know is somebody quite highly placed in the company. His passion for Disney is EXTREMELY evident, especially in his bedroom. Let's just say Sleeping Beauty wakes every morning in that exquisitely designed boudoir! He was marginalized for years because of, what some people believed was his over the top evident love for Disney. He has been the subject of workplace shunning and bullying and at least one high profile hate campaign. He has only survived and thrived because of his sheer talent and seniority. Both experiences(lowly CM and highly placed)show that to actually LOVE the Disney Company(as many of us here do)and to show evidence of that passion causes unrest and discomfort amongst the other ladder-climbing, backstabbing drones. It shows up their own transient, "what's in it for ME?!?" mentality.

This. I realized it during my College Program. If you don't toe the company line 24/7 no matter what they tell you to say, you're not going to get very far with the company.

And those who think like the old WED guys? Psh, you have a better chance of becoming president than working in a significant role with Disney.

I don't think so. To my knowledge, Magic doesn't send representatives to events and such. I guess they aren't "credentialed".
Hmmm...I do kind of like that word...I wonder if Disney would give me some "credentials"...

I'm sure he has access to the Disney PR site, but I think that's pretty much it.
I've never seen any special coverage of anything over there.
