Back on topic, I am kind of glad I am not alone in my feelings towards WDW. I wishh either Disney would step up and fix it, or the pollyanna's will wake up and vote with their wallets and make them fix it.

If Blackstone/Merlin Ent. are really looking at partnering with Universal Orlando in purchasing BEC. then the Mouse will really need to rethink the monopoly they have now in the Orlando Theme Park Market.

The rumor that came out yesterday is that Blackstone, which owns a 50% stake in Universal Orlando Resort is eyeing BEC, which owns 10 parks across the country. But most importantly for WDW, they own Sea World Orlando, Aquatica, And Discovery Cove. If Blackstone buys BEC or Partners with Universal to buy BEC then all the theme parks in the I-Drive area would be under a single ownership. This would position them to partner with the City of Orlando to connect the ends of I-Drive with some sort of transportation system like a monorail, IF it were to include stops at The Orlando Convention Center/The Peabody, Pointe Orlando/Rosen Plaza Resort, the new Great Wheel Orlando, and both the Sea World Complex and the Universal Complex.
That would be 3 major theme parks, 1 boutique park, 2 shopping and dining districts, and 2 waterparks, 1 Great Wheel along with at least 8 hotels all easily accessable by the monorail. And about 30 other hotels within walking distance of a monorail stop.

IF they get it whether they build a monorail or not, that would put all the I-Drive parks under one ownership. So they would just run busses up and down I-Drive.
But in 2005, Orlando did a study concerning a monorail and determined that it was needed. Here is a link to an interesting article concerning the need for a monorail:

The thing is that running those parks is not just about the money they do alot of good work in animal rescue and conservation and I really hope that doesn't get lost. Hopefully they will be able to keep AB products in the parks and the Clydesdales. I still think INBev is being very shortsighted and it is stupid of them to sell them. The parks make money and give the company tons of free publicity and goodwill. Which they will need if this merger goes through because alot of people are upset over this.
