The cause and effect are way too far apart for most to make the connection. It's like smokers who insist on believing that smoking must not be as bad as it's made out to be, just because it didn't kill them on the actual day they smoked.

Why not spend 15 bucks and get a toaster that is going to last for 10 years, and one that won't get recalled only after 16 houses that used it have burned down? No one cares about quality anymore. Well it isn't rocket science. We buy cheap stuff from China, made by 13 year olds, for pennies, it's gonna break. So what do we do? Run out and buy another one which perpetuates the problem. Just LOOK at the "Made In" label on the stuff you buy the next time you go to the store. It is NEARLY impossible to find something NOT made in China. We are setting ourselves up as the monarchy of the world, buying everything, consuming everything, yet not producing hardly anything. It's not IF, it's WHEN will the effects of this come home to roost? They already are.

The Disney Difference (HAHAHA) isn't very differential anymore. Anyone read the fine print for our dining discount? It's four pages long! Remember when it was simple as 20% off? Just one example of how benefits continue to deplete. Before I get flamed, let me just say, I love working for this company. The College Program gave me direction and inspired me to graduate a year early. Since that time I have been blessed with great leaders who have beenn othing but supportive. However, I think for the most part our in-costume CMs are not so lucky. Their managers are overloaded just as much as they are, and with such severe labor shortages that won't end anytime soon.
Originally Posted By Labuda "Also Disney is a company that loves to promote from within" Isn't that true of ANY good company? It's better to hire managers, etc who KNOW the business, instead of hiring outsiders. And, alissa - glad to hear WDW will match what Uni's going to be paying folks - too bad they aren't going to beat the competition. :/
