It'll break my heart if they send the WM attraction to the West coast. It's just not a Disney vacation until I see the big green truck!

I'm very merry after drinking my sip of wine for the day. Well enough of our stale bantering for this thread. I'm off to throw Darts at my autograph picture of Mickey.

    Not with the 40th coming in 2 1/2 years.<<

The thing is that a really, really big change, like the kind of stuff we'd really love to see, would take years and years. Starting now, it couldn't be done by the 40th.

For example, really properly building out the monorail system would be a multi-year project. Imagineering would have to start working on it fairly soon if they wanted to get it done by the 50th.

It's not about the economy, either. There will be ups and downs over the years. You need to keep building during the down times so that when the up times come back, you're ready for them.

    -----

To return to the original topic: I don't really have any specific ideas, but I'd love to hear anybody else's suggestions.

I must have missed the litmus test for being a Disney fan when I joined this fan site.

I'll submit all future post for your, and magnet's approval.

    Speak for yourself, Tex.

There's nothing stale about my bantering!

Did you pin Mickey's picture to Mrs. Pierce's behind again?

You could have Star Tours 2.0 open for 10/1/11.

You could have Monsters coaster open for 10/1/11.

You could have Imagination 4.0 open for 10/1/11.

You could (likely) have Mermaid open for 10/1/11.

You could certainly have two new parades and a new pyro show at MK and a replacement for ROE at EPCOT for 10/1/11.

    You could do a lot.

I'm betting Disney does next to nothing.

<<For example, really properly building out the monorail system would be a multi-year project. Imagineering would have to start working on it fairly soon if they wanted to get it done by the 50th.>>

Any monorail expansion is pure fantasy. That died with Euro Disney. Although it might be fun to dig up the footers planted for the Studios/EPCOT resorts line and sell pieces to fans as LE pins for the 40th!

Disney is going to keep using buses because that is the mindset now. WalMart. LCD. Cheap. Ordinary.

Hmm ... that post put me in a mood to go see if Steve has started an 11th thread about phased closings at WDW (you need to say that breathlessly like you just ran a mile ... or just kissed the gal/or boy of your dreams).

    Bingo!

I can't actually speak for magic0214, but my reading of post #1 is that he was looking for "pure fantasy" ideas. Not what's going to happen or what could happen if only somebody got their act together, but complete blue-sky, wildest-dreams thoughts. FUN thoughts, not practical ones.

Intermittently. I agree with a lot of you write. It's great that you're holding people's feet to the fire, and pointing out all the problems.

But here's the challenge for you: Can you dream BIG? Really big? What would your perfect park be like, if you were emperor of the theme park universe?

I actually DO think monorail expansion is very visionary AND practical in the long term ... but you have to understand that long term may be looking ahead 10-15 years. By that time, folks like Bob Iger, Jay Rasulo, Al Weiss, Meg Crofton etc ... will be LONG gone from Disney.

All they know is how much it would cost now to start. And that's why it won't happen.

Over a period of many years, monorails would pay for themselves in so many ways ... even if you had to add a transport fee like the TDR Resort Line does.

    I try.

I do feel good when I know where my stuff is read. They do get the messages.

<<But here's the challenge for you: Can you dream BIG? Really big? What would your perfect park be like, if you were emperor of the theme park universe?>.

Don't put me on the spot after I just spent the past three hours doing (wish I had a shocked smiley here) MANUAL LABOR!

But it would be visionary. It would be something on par with EPCOT Center of the 80s, TDS of today, DAK had it been built as Joe pitched it or something like the Westcot/Port Disney projects for SoCal.

It would be a pushing the limits deal. It would cost billions (although I'd be watching WDI's spending like a Baptist preacher watches his teen daughter). It would be innovative. It woule respect theme and story, so toons would be very limited and where they fit.

~You don't top pigs with pigs ... except at Team Disney!~

I'd also turn "Environmentality" into a real crusade. Imagine a decade-long program to take WDW entirely off the electrical gride, with its own geothermal, wind and solar power.

Completely revamp the internal transportation system: Cheap and efficient internal transportation, with no private cars allowed on the resort's internal roads. You park at the edge of Disney's property and take monorails or buses or boats everywhere.
