The economy is still in the basement, but you're willing to gamble thousands of dollars to uproot your family and move to an area with worse prospects for job security than where you currently reside. And if you're moving to Florida without job prospects already lined up, it's a gigantic gamble. Lots of people have tried to dissuade you from doing this, but you're not heeding our advice one bit. So I have to ask you... why the heck did you even start this thread to begin with, when you already had your minds made up?

I didn't say one hateful thing about France. I can't recall ever saying anything hateful about France. Que vive la France! Now I want you to think back to the riots that took place in Paris, and other areas of France. Think about the extreme leftist who have set up their own little kingdoms in French neighborhoods. Their goal is to remove French culture from the French ground that they occupy. Now with that knowledge in hand, put down that drink, and read what I said again. It also sounds to me like both of them are currently employed in AZ, but do not have jobs lined up in FL, before they move. So they're going to quit their jobs and relocate their family to central FL so they can live closer to a Disney theme park than they do now, and hope that they can find decent paying jobs on the other end, once they've moved. All during a severe economic recession which has hit Florida more so than Arizona. What a mature and responsible decision for parents to make. Pixie dust addiction. It ain't pretty.

"Hey, kids... how would you like to live near Walt Disney World?" Yeah, like they're going to say "No, we wouldn't like that." <<You may never get another chance.>> If it's meant to be, another chance will emerge. "You may never get another chance" for a situation like this one, is basically bunk. If these people were suffering, money-wise, because of long-term unemployment, and the prospects of job offers were better in FL than AZ, then I'd say, sure, go for it. But that's not what's happening here. They suggested in earlier posts that they both work and there are no job offers on the table in FL. It's very irresponsible, especially in this economy, to quit your jobs and uproot your family, simply because you hate where you are now, and that Disney is a large part of your life and you want to live closer to one of their theme park resorts. Yeah, well, life often sucks. But you do what needs to be done for your family. You're the ones who decided to have kids... now start acting like responsible parents and give them the most secure future you can provide.

I never implied that they should be the ones making the final decision. They will be giving up their friends, changing schools, and moving to an unfamilar state. They have every right to have a voice in this matter. I grew up loving Disneyland, however, at no time did I ever want to move there. These folks seem like they have a dream. Sometimes it's much more important to follow your own dream rather than do what someone else considers to be the rational, and right thing for you to do. Had I always done the safe, and rational thing I would have missed out on a lot of joy in my life. Sometimes you just have to take chances. I'm sure these folks will do what they think is right for their family.

But these people are moving to FL to be closer to a Disney theme park! That's not a dream. That's a whacked perspective about what's important in life while raising a family. If you think I'm belittling them, that's your choice. I'm calling it as I see it. And I'm seeing two selfish and spoiled parents who are addicted to pixie dust and use it as a substitute for meaningful activities with their kids that don't involve the Disney franchises or brands. The mere thought of moving to a state with worse unemployment without having new jobs lined up is stupid. STUPID!! And I hope the kids don't end up getting screwed over by their parents' possible long-term unemployment because of it.

They've lived, and worked in Florida before. They have friends in the area. They are not happy with where they live now, and I would guess they're not happy with their jobs either. Why not pick up roots, and go for your dreams. When the whole family agrees on it, how can that be selfish? People start all over pursuing their dreams all the time. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. They've already said if it doesn't work out at least they tried. I have a feeling these folks just didn't wake up yesterday, and say let's move to WDW. I'm sure a lot of thought has gone into this. You can choose to let life steer you or you can choose to steer life. It's up to each individual.

And one thing that people have to remember concerning FL's unemployment numbers is that FL has a statewide average education of 10th grade. For many of the people without experience or education, there is very little opportunity in the recessionary climate we are in. But for those with both experience and education there are some jobs to be had. Albeit fewer than in the salad days, but still there are jobs. And I couldn't possibly be judgemental regarding their decision considering I did a similar thing this past March.

If there are other reasons ... if they have been to WDW ... if they have spent time in Central FLA beyond the pixie dusted archways ... if they can take care of their children at a similar level of lifestyle ... if they are planning on working and not living in theme parks ... if all of the above is indeed true and then some ... then, I'd say they should still think it thru very carefully and if they make the move, I wish them the best. But if that's not the case, I would stand on my first opinion. One thing the internet Disney community has taught me is there are largely two kinds of fans ... one group just loves The Mouse and his parks, but it doesn't guide their lives beyond some vacation choices ... and the other group is largely looking to find something in Disney that they can't find in reality ... they are largely a sad group of socially awkward misfits with very strange worldviews and an almost universal (no pun intended) inability to fit in (or even desire to) in the real world. So my first thought is always WHY would anyone want this? What are they running away from? Or what do they think they are running to? Maybe it isn't fair ... but when I don't want people to make leaps about me, I keep my personal stuff off places like this ... I was just hard on some fanboi on another MAGICal site because he boasted about spending 28 days since 12/1 at WDW. Can't help it. When I hear something like that my first response is WTF is wrong with you? Do you have a life? Are you afraid to? So ... to bring things back to this thread, when people put stuff out there, I believe it's fair game. I'm in the throes of making a major life decision myself ... but I won't be telling folks about it here. Won't place it out for anyone to comment on. I'll leave that for family and friends (and yeah, I happily have a few real friends here in the LP). Just some thoughts ... whether anyone likes them or not!

Maybe I should ask him ... you'd think in 28 days he'd have plenty of time. <<If so, he should upload them ASAP because I need my daily Disney toilet shot. Don't worry, as it will be shilled on every Disney fan site on the web!

It's a relaxing change of pace from the Restrooms DVD. It's also available on Blu-ray.
