Just like some people are big sports fans or outdoors people, it is Disney for our family. We are at a place in our lives and our children's lives that where we live, we believe the time has ended for us here. We have thought of moving other places and the only hesitation of moving was the disntance we would have been from Disneyland. That's when it popped into my head, why not WDW? For us WDW or DL is for us about our family and the time we spend together. Our kids are at the point in their lives where we only have a few more years with them where they like us and want to hang out with us. This is our family dream and as far as jobs, we have job skills and experience that we will not have a problem finding something.

Who would of thought a simple question would bring so many different opinions. I thank all of you for your insight and thoughts.

This all has to be Pierce's fault!

I've asked this question before, but it keeps getting ignored: why not move closer to Disneyland?

Why move to the other side of the country if you love DL so much?

You have the requisite job skills to go just about anywhere, or so you claim, so employment shouldn't be a problem.

What's wrong with moving to southern California?

If you find out let me know. I wasn't around for the grande finale. I think dshyates might know. It seems he was the last one in, and trying to be a peace maker. Maybe he'll tell us.

Thanks Dave. That's really sad. I hope X didn't get banned over it.

Funny we were just discussing the thread birdsnworms started before.

He certainly seemed passionate about his feelings, but I don't recall him showing any malicious intent.

LP is much better off without people like that.

SEE SPIRIT, once again you were at the center of the controversy.

Yes ... and what am I doing NOW in the middle of an NFL playoff game???!?

    Answering your post!

    TOUCHDOWN SAINTS!!!

Good thing I really don't care much for either team (although they do have fun offenses to watch!)

I don't know why anyone would ever say anything bad about me.

    I'm such a loveable Spirit.

Seriously, people just want to hug me when they see me ... and then they want to buy me dinner.

Why would Wormy attack me? I even stood up for the dude when he first posted here and didn't quite get our 'unique' group.

I'd be interested in what was said about me, although (obviously) the mods don't want the post here.

The saddest part is now I'll have to go take another magical WDW vacation just so I can come back and start another thread.

The things I do for you guys!

I like X. Most times I even agree with him, and it sounds like he may have been defending me ... but he does need to watch the language. I've noticed it for years and I'm no prude ... I want to use all kinds of words to describe MPie...I mean the pigs on Wall Street and the execs at Disney, but I don't resort to obscenity to do so.

<<Funny we were just discussing the thread birdsnworms started before.>>

That might have been the cause. Sometimes, tis best to let sleeping worms crawl under their rocks.

<<He certainly seemed passionate about his feelings, but I don't recall him showing any malicious intent.>>

That was my take. He (and I assume it's a he because I am a sexist Spirit!) seemed very lawyerly and savvy about media ... if not Disney fan sites and the personalities that inhabit them!

<<LP is much better off without people like that.>>

I like controversy TOUCHDOWN SAINTS! myself ... this place was dreadfully dull (like say watching a DVD of old Disney parades!) the past few months.

<<SEE SPIRIT, once again you were at the center of the controversy.>>

I love it! Not even around and that happens. Momma always said I was special ... or did she say pass the chocolates, do you see how fat your arse is getting?

Really ... I think she said both!

CA is certainly more pricey than FLA, largely.

But FLA is no bargain. It's not the 1980s anymore.

As to their being more to explore, all I'll say is for years I split my time between SoCal and SoFla. And after a while you come to realize that Florida is mostly theme parks and beaches when it comes to entertainment. The diversity in every aspect of life, including leisure activities is so much greater in SoCal.

The cheaper cost of living is also balanced out by the fact jobs are largely low-paying service jobs. The fact you can get houses for very little is because neighborhoods that seemed wonderful middle class enclaves in 2005, now look like post 1929.

I'm not trying to change your mind because you already made it, and I hope it works well for you and your family.

But I would tell anyone who's considering moving here (no matter the reason) to not.
