Anyway, from 5.20 is all the pyro your heart could desire! Enjoy.

(you can also search around the linx there for the whole thing in 5 parts, I'm rather partial to the parade out in part 5, it's very festive and tons of fun, though again a tad cooler at TDL imho)

Other than that though, crowds are relatively heavy but not ridiculous the week after Christmas, and you can (I believe) enjoy a "preview" of the Countdown parade which includes the whole show but not the fireworks iirc. The week after new years is also, of course, busy BUT you can enjoy some unique New Years shows in the parks. What I would recommend is perhaps arriving on the 29th, enjoying TDL on the 30th including the countdown parade, go elsewhere for New Years Eve and the first few days (Temple visiting is very popular), and then back to the resort around the 7th or 8th for several days...that way you could catch the tail end of the New Years shows, and after THAT the parks are utterly empty until March. It's cold, though.

So it is Christmas (usually 22nd Dec - 4th Jan), a week of Valentine's - too short, 2 weeks at Easter, 6 weeks in July and August, and Halloween week. I am thinking summer or Easter might be best.
Originally Posted By Mr X Christmas is very well done here, and you could luck out and have some warmer days (it generally freezes up RIGHT around New Years...but it's still not ridiculously intolerable til late Jan/Feb)...so I would keep that option open despite the crowds. Easter over summer, DEFINITELY. July and August here are miserably hot and humid, and the crowds are legendary in the parks. As an aside, I'm sorry to hear about Mike's troubles! Although, considering he's got a learning disability, why is he considered to be "behind" on his reading? Is this in comparison with his peers, because that does not seem an appropriate way for the schools to be looking at things if you ask me. That's private stuff though, so I'll just say feel free to shoot me an email anytime if you'd like to discuss further.

He is 2 years advanced in math. He does have a stammer though and it can affect his confidence in speaking. But the school will still monitor him in comparison to his age group as he is only just on the autistic spectrum. There approach is more homework, testing and support. The whole school only has 24 children though and that can be useful. The down side is he does not like school much and has less time for childhood pursuits. We considered homeschool, but Sarah lacks the skills and my work commitments are not condusive. Private school is much too expensive. And so we try to make do the best we can. What is ironic is he always develops so much every time we travel. even when it is simply a theme park.
Originally Posted By Mr X ***The whole school only has 24 children though and that can be useful*** Wow. That's some serious individual attention! ***He is 2 years advanced in math*** I wonder why, then, the other kids aren't considered "behind", and being forced to catch up the way Mike is? Ugh...such complicated stuff, this education thing. Sometimes I wonder if we (humans) aren't going about it entirely the wrong way. Take a kid like Mike...he hates school but is good at math. Why not gear his curriculum towards his strengths? I know PLENTY of highly successful computer and statistics folks who aren't all that great at communicating (but they do just fine due to their gifts). But my rant is way off topic, I'll just leave it there.
