When $$$ is the driving influence and not unbiased reporting of the news...what happens? The other networks need to appeal to the other side in order to garner attention. CNN is liberal leaning and there is no denying it. MSNBC is far left and there is no denying it. FOX teeters between far right and centrist right depeding on the anchor. Why do people often point to PBS for more "balanced" coverage? They aren't as concerned about their ratings. They are publicly funded.

Sad to say, but I don't trust ANY "news" organization anymore. Not even the international ones. If possible I go to the source (an AP update or whatever short "just the facts" bit of info I can find), and if that seems biased, I try to do more research on the particular story, read what the comments are from people on the scene (witness accounts are more valuable to me by far in comparison to "reporter commentary" about what's going on). That's what you need to do if you want to get some true stories. Otherwise, you can sit back and watch the propaganda "infotainment" of your liking and believe that they are for real. They aren't though (heads up).

But any time I hear "reporting" by a "journalist" and not some yahoo just yapping his or her opinion, and that reporting is clearly biased (and I mean more so that just saying things that I don't like to hear) I tend to tune in elsewhere. It's getting almost impossible to find ANYWHERE to tune in these days. For the record, and by the way, any Conservatives that want to claim Fox News isn't biased, well as a Conservative, I say that's malarkey. Same for CNN. Same for MSNBC. And like a good Conservative, of course I am not going to give examples or name names or provide any evidence. ;p

REPORTERS have biases that come out in their reporting, and that does not necessarily indicate that the news organization itself shares that bias. Back in my TV station days (engineering department, not news), I found that most of the reporters made a sincere effort to be as accurate and unbiased as possible, and their failures in that regard were usually due to either sloppines in the face of a deadline (deadlines in TV news are insane), or just not being all that great at their job. There's a big difference between a reporter who inadvertently lets his own biases color his estimate of the size of a crowd, and a network who lets a marching orders memo from the news director do the same. >>You'll be waterboarded until you give up the names and examples.<< Well at least you aren't torturing him.
