I really don't think there is a clear cut right and wrong on the real issue of this thread. The REAL issue is NOT about the rights and wrongs of pornography. It is about censorship, and even more specifically, "...should the government further regulate porn on the Internet?" Well first of all, it's an impossible mission. The government can't do it. Second, why not take responsibility as a parent? Norton add-on Parental Control (which is free as a download) that works with Norton Internet Security 2007 and 360, is GREAT!!! I have it on my kids' computers and if anything it OVER-blocks sites. I will say this though... I think it's ridiculous and a complete waste of time to orate your personal convictions and beliefs and sit in an Ivory Tower and tell other people what they should and should not do while pointing a finger. If you want to go the religious route, Christ reached the sinners by going to their homes, going to where they were, eating with them, being seen with them, being seen as a rebel and radical and dirty by the lawful religious leaders of the day who looked down their noses at common folks, who lived in such a way as to suggest that they had a lock on all that was Holy and that everyone else was simply, "wrong" sort of a "one true church" attitude of you think about it. Speaking of Christ, no matter if you see him as a "great human profit", or the "brother of Lucifer" who cast lots for the role of savior of a world, or simply as the ONLY son of God and therefore deity, whatever, I don't recall him bringing anyone around to his beliefs by sitting in an ivory tower, looking down on the common folk, and pointing fingers. I think the one thing he did that so few people do, then or now, is he really loved and cared about other people. What does that mean? Should we have no laws? Of course not. It means, it is far more effective to reach people through example and love than through laws and preaching, and that is where I don't have a big problem at all with what jonvn is basically saying in post #9. Maybe his sledge hammer approach is offensive, but at the core of his argument is truth... Any institution is useless if the members of it have no love. No church can save or help anyone. Anything, any church, any group, is only as effective as the single individual that is doing good at any given moment. The rest is all fluff. All of this said, in my HUMBLE opinion. Bottom line, should the government censor Internet porn. It's impossible anyway you try.
