Give me my 1996 VHS trip planning guide any day of the week. I had to watch the 2005 version just to get the foul taste out of my mouth of the latest dismal failure of WDW vacation videos. I never realized how great an actor Luke really was.

They're talking flowery concepts, while all we want is to see the parks and learn about new rides and programs and stuff!" Whoever wrote these videos really missed the boat on their target audience!

I bet danyoung could splice together better videos with the tapes, and dvds he has now. Speaking of which. Does anybody else notice the stock footage from yesteryears that Disney uses almost every dvd. There's one in there that was originally made for the Jazz club that gets used almost every year. I know that shot is at least 15 years old.

I'm pretty sure they've updated his look several times through the years, but that shot still remained. I just found a photo of it, and it seems like Donald was sporting his early 80's look for the cameras. From what I can tell, he was updated around 82/83 to remove the black circles from around his eyes, which were added back again in the early 90's, a new look with eyelids came aroudn in the late 90's, and I believe there was another one in the early 00's that came before the one we have today. Yet there's this clip of Donald from 6 generations of costumes ago waving at the camera. It comes out of nowhere, and is in the middle of a bunch of modern clips, which just makes it frightening the first few times you see it. Here's the look he was sporting: http://www.flickr.com/photos/u...4509209/

Nah, it has to be a sign of their stinginess.

They go through the tapes, see a shot of Donald playing with a kid, and go "hey, that's great - it'll fit in right here", and then they use it. And to their semi-trained eyes, the finished product looks good, and meets the goals that came down from corporate. Now, you & me, who have seen every promotional video for the past 30 years, know that that show of the little girl putting the Donald hat on her head has been used to death. But again, the people approving these videos don't know that. They look at all the fun cast members sitting on clouds and talking about their favorite memories, and they get all warm and fuzzy, thinking that this is what it's all about. But in this case, it isn't. It's about showing the parks, the water parks, the new stuff in DTD, in as much detail as possible. But they'll never know that, cuz they have the wrong people putting the videos together.
