I love that book, and any of Tolkien's work.

Coincidentally it's the basis for one of my favorite Power Metal albums.

It was also the inspiration for the prog band Marillion's name.

Really good, Labuda. You'll like it since you like the show.First book was really close to the first season with a few exceptions. But book 2 and so on branches out more.

Anyway, there were a couple of quotes near the very end of the book that struck me. I can't say if I liked or disliked the book. I identify with Holden but as a 39 year old, I've managed to put those demons to rest for the most part.

Definitely glad I read it, especially with the two quotes I mentioned. One I posted on FB, the other I can't post here (language, you know). ;-) They struck me as two of the truest things I've ever read. Lemme know when you've finished it.

Any Kindle users want to give me any tips?

I find myself wishing there were a more intuitive way to jump around in a book. In "War of the Worlds," I kept wanting to go back and re-read bits, but I had trouble finding the bits I wanted to re-read. With a real book, I'd flip it open to the approximate place and skim till something jumped out at me, but there doesn't seem to be a way to "skim" with the Kindle.

Also, when reading a real book, I often like to jump ahead to see how many more pages are left in the current chapter. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do that.

April - I finished The Catcher in the Rye this morning! It amazes me how little I liked it reading the first 270-odd pages, but that short, 2-page chapter at the end was perfection. It brought me in and made me LOVE this book.
