I make it sound like a chore, but despite their massive length, they are eminently readable. One comes away, not just with an understanding of Johnson, but of American government and politics for a large portion of the 20th century.

I'm also reading 'Return to Bull Run' by John Hennessy. It was one of the strangest campaigns of the Civil War. You have two Federal armies in Virginia trying to work together to defeat Lee's force, yet with two commanders (John Pope and George McClellan) secretly hoping the other would be fail to ensure their own aspirations. Talk about FUBAR.

Currently on Long Hard Road Out of Hell by Marilyn Manson & Neil Strauss. Finished the first half just now and am working on the 2nd half. First half written by Manson, 2nd half written by Strauss. Another good look into how people develop based upon their environment.

I am now reading Peter and the Secret of Rundoon, number 3 in the series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. I am also reading The Force is Middling in This One by Robert Kroese. It was a free Kindle download. It's mildly funny.

Still reading: The History of Tom Jones by Henry Fielding - but not much lately.
Stopped reading: A Confederacy of Dunces by john Kennedy Toole because I was hating it.

Finished: The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan - excellent and now I want to go see the movie. Mousejunkies: More - I really liked reading a lot of this book, like how it looks like Mickey Mouse vomited in his living room, and about their Drinking Around the World experience. Death Comes As the End by Agatha Christie - good. The Snark Handbook - lol funny! The Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss - EXCELLENT fantasy, can't wait for the last book. Little Lord Fauntleroy - meh, it was an easy read over July 4th. Murder on the Orient Express and the Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie were very good. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak was well written and moving.

I think I will not read Hunger Games again until after I see all the movies. I find that if I read them right before seeing the movies, I am disappointed.

*spoiler* For the first movie, I had just read the books, and I was super worried about the scene where Cato dies slowly, but then in the movie it wasn't as difficult to see as I anticipated at all.

Today I read "Fat Vampire" by Johnny Truant. It was a free Kindle download and was a good read, funny in spots. I liked it so much I downloaded another book of his which called "Unicorn Western" so I'll start that. Also reading "Skylight Confessions" by Alice Hoffman. I love her books.
