This thread is definetly helping me understand and make connections with all the posts I have read here on the boards! Great topic idea!

    So about me.

I'm a youngin' who is still beginning life. I'm currently a student at a local community college (which I have been attending since I graduated high school in 03). I originally had plans of becoming a marine biologist but now my degree course has changed and I have chosen to be a dance major. I'm slowly moving through classes and SHOULD be ready to transfer with an AA in general education and an AA in dance in another year. My long term goal is to be a dance teacher, I have not yet decided if I want to take it to the school system or keep it at a dance studio level.

I work at the Disney Store about 40 minutes from where I live. I travel back and forth all the time to work at a minimum wage level, but it does not bother me. I LOVE my job and the people I work with. It makes the travel and low wage worth it.

Eventually I would like to work at the park to become a part of the entertainment department for the experience (and to live out a life long dream)!

I have one brother and live with my mom while I complete my college education.

I have a few close friends and I am a geniunely down to earth laid back person. I'm a total goofball that spends most of my spare time sleeping, playing world of warcraft (sometimes city of heroes/villians), going to disneyland, surfing LP (daily), attempting at making my myspace pretty or just choosing to do whatever the heck I feel like doing lol.

    That's me in a nutshell ;)

Have you met the LPer who changed majors 2 times? That LPer has studied 3 different areas in his post secondary education. You're not quite as indecisive yet. (And he may be going back to study for a related track since his department has been delisted by the "wonderful" Liberal provincial government.

Followed by 14 years as the owner of a licensed residential care home taking care of the elderly, developmentally and physically challenged and the mentally ill. Forced out of that business due to changing social requirements I decided that I would train to do something that could carry over into semi-retirement and that was to become a bus driver (Disney was on my mind at the time). After doing that for a while I was promoted to Field Operations Supervisor for the same public transit group that I worked for. I am now about 3 and a half years away from semi-retirement where my plan is to split my time equally between Florida in the winter and up here in the northeast in the summer.

I became a Disney fanatic when I first took my family to the "World" in 1983 and have been at least once a year since then. I will miss 2007 but am bounding back in early 2008 when I bring my Daughters, their Husbands and My Grandchildren (their kids) to WDW for a family trip...paid by dad. This is to make up for the years when I couldn't afford to do the things I wanted to do for them. It's payback time and my chance to actually see them enjoy their inheritance.

Like DAR I am a bachelor, though the "younger brother" version at 28. I am in the process of becoming an uncle to a little niece later this year.

a college-graduated English major stuck in life and trying to dig his way out of what seems to have been some wrong turns in the education and working world. I have a minor in American Sign Language and would love to get to use that some more. My "career" moves in order have been a Shoney's host and cashier, a Dawahare's suit associate ("ha", never sold one), a Staples copy center dude, a counselor for a summer camp for teenage boys with behavioral and emotional problems which a deaf boy was in (I had been fresh out of my first college ASL class and really wanted to use it), a Nielsen Media Research telephone researcher (I may have spoken to you in 1999!), a Writing Center "coach" at my college, a Disney Store cast member for about 16 months, a technical writer where I got paid over 16 dollars an hour to do barely any work (they barely had any) and had 10-hour days and 3-day weekends every weekend (MAN do I miss that...my position was cut when realized it wasn't needed...it gets me down when I dwell on how spoiled I was), a telephone co. in-store bill collector, a data entry clerk for keying in immigrants' Visa information, and I am now a full time news monitor (ugh) and a part time men's shoe salesman.

I am sick of not having a career in something I would thrive on and really succeed in, so this is "The Year of Change"---I do have a couple more writing prospects coming up and a few promising ideas, so we'll see what happens.

Hobbies (barely any time for "hobbies", but "areas I used to hobby in but still love even if my time is extremely limited") include Greek mythology, Narnia, Muppets, nature/the zoo, 1980s kids' entertainment, photography, things that change color, writing and recording song parodies, and I love sitcoms, particularly 1980s sitcoms on DVD.

I have a bonsai tree (fake) that you plug in, and when you do, these little clear-white sprays that lie among the leaves light up and change color...nice shades of greens, yellows, reds, violets, and blues.

    <a href="http://www.mountainvalleycenter.com/store/html/folamp.htm" target="_blank">http://www.mountainvalleycente
    r.com/store/html/folamp.htm</a>

(doesn't do it justice, but there ya go)

And I recently got some Watercolor Electronic Candles that rock. They're like cordless, flameless candles, but with the same light as a candle---how cool is that?! The traditional setting is the steady candle-glow, but the transitional setting has them change colors...among greens, reds, blues, pinks, and all sortsa shades inbetween as it goes between the "basics" (i.e., when changing from what I have dubbed "photosynethsis green" to "ice blue", you get "aqua" and "sea green" between).

    <a href="http://www.wowzzers.com/product_info.php?products_id=267&osCsid=29383f95879623dbcfd.." target="_blank">http://www.wowzzers.com/produc
    t_info.php?products_id=267&osCsid=29383f95879623dbcfd..</a>.

They even come with a tray so that they automatically turn off when you set them down, and turn on when you pick one up. Perfect for needing light to get up in the middle of the night, a relaxing bath, a nightlight, etc. It's so easy to waste minutes and minutes simply by staring at their changing hues (or at least, that's what I've been, um, told, yeah, that's it).

Spencer's Gifts is nice to supply me with such things that change color.

And not look at me funny.

    :)

Just a thought... Your backgrounds are definitely similar. :)
